If you wanted to rebuild a team, maybe. But if I had to pick a QB to win THIS season, Id take Favre in his worst year. He's an overall leader, which Smith is not, and has more talent at this point. Who knows, maybe Smith will explode over the next few seasons, maybe he'll be a bust. But Favre has proven himself over and over again, Smith proved he can beat second rate college teams...

And going back to leadership, which team had a better record with an overall worse team?

I beg to differ. The 49ers did have an excellent ground game with frank gore, but Alex Smith had absolutely no targets. Vernon Davis (injuries), Arnez Battle (average at best), Antonio Bryant (Suspended and attitude).
Overall worse team? Come on now, have you seen the 49ers defense play. I practically had to stab needles in my eyes every time their D got on the field. They were terrible (although this year will be different). Walt Harris played very well, but Shawntae Spencer and the two safeties got burned every play. Plus, the front seven did nothing. Favre may have better leadership qualities, but he is a veteran of the game so he naturally is a leader. Smith is young and inexperienced so its much tougher to see his leadership.

Have you seen the Packers defense?!?! We had absolutely no way to stop the run with injuries all season (and Gbaja-Biamila sucking huge ass...), our LBs were the only good part, but our oldest player was 25 in that group, and Al Hariss was our #1 CB, possibly one of the slowest and "overrated" players in the NFL. Talk about getting burned, i challenge you to name the Packers safeties without looking it up. Go ahead, dig deep
