Turn the Page.........Bob Seger
On a long and lonely highway, east of Omaha,
you can hear your engine moaning out it's one lone song,
and you think about the woman, the girl you knew the night before.
And your thoughts will soon be wanderin', just the way they alway do,
when you're ridin' sixteen hours, and there's nuthin' much to do,
and you don't feel much like ridin', you just wish the trip was thru.......
Now here I go, out on the road again, here I am, up on the stage,
here I go, playin' the "star" again, there I go, turn the page.
well you walk into the restaurant, strung out from the road,
and you feel the eyes upon you, as you're shakin' off the cold,
you pretend it doesn't bother you,but you just want to explode.
most times you can't hear them talk, but other times you can,
it's the same ole cliche, "is that a woman or a man?"
and you always seem outnumbered, so you don't dare make a stand.
Now here I am, out on the road again, here I am, up on the stage,
now here I go, playin' guitar again, there I go, turn the page.
Up here in the spotlight you're a million miles away,
and every ounce of energy, you try to give away,
as the sweat pours from your body, just like the music that you play.
and later in the evenin' as you lie awake in bed,
with the echo's of the amplifiers ringin' in your head,
and you smoke the day's last cigarette, rememberin' what she said........
Well here I am, out on the road again, here I am, up on the stage,
there I go, playin' the star again, there I go......turn the page.
