I'm saying that in the US, 'girl charged with assault'' is pretty meaningless and tells us nothing about the gravity of what she did. It could mean she headbutted someone unconscious, it might just meant she scowled aggressively. Given she's black it probably just means she sweated on a white girl.

Yes there are racial inequalities and yes our country isn’t perfect.

That said, you don’t as a minor typically get charged for assault and theft unless you did something pretty bad.

Suggesting that she ‘sweated on a white girl’ doesn’t help the discussion.

How? As a minor her identity isn't public.

So we go back to my original point: her classmates and teachers (i.e. the people in the best position to comment on her conduct) all say this punishment is an overzealous witch hunt.

Her classmates are talking about her unwillingness to do homework... doesn’t seem to me their commenting on her criminal behavior.

Also... how many of those middle class white girls your think really KNOW this girl?
