Re: Stolen Valor

Half of my wardrobe is woodland camo; 75% of it is authentic from garage sales of former servicemen. Almost all have the patches removed but a few made it through. I like camo cause its cool and I wear it hunting, as do 90% of hunters here and a ton of regular people....

I have NEVER seen anyone dressed to imitate a soldier; I agree that is not cool. Why?

A buddy is retired marine (but the never "retire")...he goes once a year to a nice local restaurant that serves free expensive meals to vets on Vets day....have gone with him before. Every single servee politely discussed with the owner their background, as he cares and serves the guys personally. Really cool....a poser would never make it thru and probly get his ass handed to him

Lastly, I personally thank every serviceperson I see in my daily life; I've NEVER had one say "I'm not in the military".....weird.
"Gypsy told my fortune...she said that nothin showed...."

I have a love hate relationship with Wikipedia. I don't enjoy them begging for money especially under the guise of pretending it boosts their credibility. Second it annoys me they don't accept the Canadian who developed the robotic arm on the space shuttle as "a significant person" then rejected the pace I was trying to start for him.

Their Jimi article is excellent and I never knew that he met Billy Cox while they were both in the military.

Tell me about Billy's service/discharge gunny.

shake up your head a little, there's no intrinsic value in being 18 and stupid, needing money and having bought from your family that serving is great therefore you sign up to be shipped overseas to kill other idiots because some 70-yos decided (and we're not gonna get into the real reasons..) war was gonna be fought there.

I never trash veterans, even though I disapprove of the military-industrial complex as much as you do.

Regardless of why they joined, most are doing their best to serve with honesty and dignity. It's not their fault the scumbags in power sent them out there.

Johnny Hedrix?

Maybe I should start a new thread but I'm going for continuity here.

I don't know if it's true but the story in that article about his dad refusing to take him and Leon to their mom's funeral and instead giving them a shot of whiskey saying, "That's how a man deals with loss." Seems a bit harsh considering her cause of death.

Not sure why you linked that article to support your claim.

Seems a far cry from.

according to your link Pvt. James Maddox wrote:
There were six of us working pairs… Every once in awhile I would catch Hendrix setting down on his footlocker or laying down on his bunk trying to get some sleep. Around 1000 hours I looked all over the squad bay for Hendrix buy couldn’t find him… I then went into the latrine and saw Hendrix sitting in the last commode. I thought he was sitting there sleeping I stood on the stool in the commode next to his and looked into his commode, there sat Hendrix masturbating himself. At that time [Private Stroble] came into the latrine and I motioned him to come over and witness what was happening. He took a look and then went back into the squad bay and started working again.

I submit that private Hedrix was not expecting you, Saxi or anyone else to start a search for him ending in standing on a something to voyeur him over the stall.

He was on duty and decided to jerk it at 10 a.m.

And didn't stop when two lookyloos decided to peek in on him. I've never been in a stall where i was unaware of the slightest movement of the person in the next stall, like two men climbing onto toilets.

Again. What he was caught doing at ten hundred hours while on duty was wrong and possibly a very small factor in his discharge. Which I am prepared to continue to disagree with you about.

In news completely unrelated to flaming stratocasters. I cut the patch off. Should have done it right away, feels like the right thing to do and I'll probably like the hat even more. It was already one of my favourites!

i am not trashing veterans. they chose their path in life just like any of us did.. thinking it was the right choice or what they had to do or something like that.

that doesn't mean i'm not allowed to raise the question given that it's taken like a matter of fact that you ought to respect the uniform just because.

this seems to be an American phenomenon - most other males of the world got playing soldier out of their systems before their teens. have to agree that impersonating one for any sort of personal gain is rather llame.

No, "padding" and "pushing" is as much a part of feminine wardrobe as those shoulder pads on blouses that square off the shoulders.

So, back to Jimi - was he actually thrown out for wanking, or did he just get a discharge?

Well that's his fault. All my searches start and end with voyeurism. Everyone knows that.
