Also, I hate Andy here, so it sucks that he chose his name from that movie.

Does anyone feel that way? I wished that I could say Pulp Fiction or The Godfather I & II were better than Shawshank Redemption.

I hope you can never disassociate this Andy from that Andy when you watch the movie! ;)

The Good, Bad and the Ugly deserves to be on here. Best western and second best score behind Star Wars (Morricone is a fucking beast).

1: Casablanca is unquestionably #1. OK, I realize there can be different opinions and tastes, but any list that doesn't have it at least in the top 10, the maker of the list has no clue what makes a good film. Even if it's not in the top 5, their judgment is highly questionable.

2:
Sackett58 wrote:WTH!!! No John Wayne movies. I smell communism.
Agreed. You can take your choice, at least a few of those need to be in there. If I had to narrow it down, "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" is a true classic. Next level would be "Stagecoach" and "The Shootist", then "Rio Bravo", "The Green Berets", then you can take you pick between: "Angel and the Badman", "The Quiet Man", They Were Expendable", "In Harm's Way","The Cowboys", "The Searchers", and McLintock!". I'll add "True Grit" because it's the one he got the award for and it's close, but all the others were better.

3: I agree also on "The Good, Bad, and Ugly"

4: Where is "The Seven Samurai"? For that matter, where are "The Magnificent Seven" and "High Noon"?

5: From the original list, these are the"You've got to be joking" list:The Exorcist, Animal House, The Godfather 2, (note, "2"), Saturday Night Fever, Vacation, Bad News Bears, Ammityville Horror, Caddy Shack. Each of these was kind of entertaining in its own way, but "great" films"? YGTBJ

EDiT; 6; Oh yeah, where is "The Maltese Falcon"?
The right answer to the wrong question is still the wrong answer to the real question.

In the YGTBJ list gringo, I agree on all of them except Animal House, Godfather 2 and Caddy Shack. Animal House and Shack are two of the greatest comedies of all-time that in my mind haven't aged a bit and Godfather 2 is absolutely spectacular.

I think you're right (the first one). #3 was just trying to continue cashing in on the franchise. I'm not sure I'd agree that #2 was great, but you can take it off my YGTBJ list.

How could you possibly rate Green Berets? That film was awful.

That highway to heaven with Frenchy and how she lived in Jeff's place (my place as well for a couple of months)... that was pretty wild.

Nothing from Akira Kurosawa?

Rashomon and Seven Samurai should be up there somewhere.

Hidden Fortress maybe, if you're a Star Wars fan. Throne of Blood is amazing too.

And no animation. Snow White has got to be up there, and Ghibli deserve a shot too. Spririted Away is certainly better than Highlander.

I'm not a great one for lists - and I hate how when someone posts a "greatest" anything i immediately start lookin for what they've missed.
Nevertheless, apart from some of the objections above here's my most urgent complaints

No Rocky Horror?
No Princess bride?
No 2001?
No Greystoke?
