Nonsense. if he broke an FCC violation, then the FCC should take action. His crime was being "offensive", is the new standard of free speech now that you have free speech as long as too many people aren't offended by it? I'll bet those girls never heard of Don Imus before this but at least one of them has a rap CD with the word "ho" in the lyrics on it in their dorm room. Dave Chapelle gets $50 mil to do racially charged humor, it's ok for BET to mock rural Americans as stereotypical inbred morons, but a 70 year old white says "nappy headed ho" and there's a firestorm of outrage. Give me a break.
As for Al Sharpton, racial ambulance chaser, he needed something to latch onto since the Duke lacrosse team having all charges against them in the rape case dropped was about to make him look like a bigger fool than usual (Twana Brawley, anyone?). Since apologizing to those he slandered has never been in his act he needed a bigger distraction, and a controvery manufactured.
Don Imus was funny - 30 years ago. He was crude and offensive and hilarious back then, now he's crude and offensive and cranky. He's gotta be laughing on the inside now, last month he was an irrelevent old DJ with about 16 listeners and now everybody's talking about him. His only crime was being stupid, and if you're going to start firing people for being stupid then there will be a lot of Americans unemployed.
