my sweetest victory was the NFC Championship last year in Seattle...the play i will always remember was when Seneca Wallace (our backup QB) caught a 20-30yd pass when he was double covered!!! it capped up the game! INCREDIBLE!!! we were serious underdogs, considering ESPN and SI picked the Panthers to go to the super bowl that year

My favorite was the Michigan -Michigan State football game three years ago. Michigan is down 17 points with like 7 minutes left. Michigan kicks a field goal and the stand pretty much empty out, thinking we are giving up. Then Michigan recovers the onside kick. I had never heard of Brian Thompson before he recovered it. You could feel the momentum turn and it was so sweet because it seemed like the teams switched bodies because instantly the Uof M bench was hype and MSU had given up. The Braylon went to work. one touchdown in regulation and a clutch catch to set up the tying td. Then we go to overtime. Braylon from chad henne. In the third ot Braylon catches his 4th td. on 4th and twenty leon hall knocks down MSU last attempt and it was over. I remember that i couldn't fell my legs after the game because it had goten so late and cold and i had shorts on( it was pretty hot when the sun was up.
Hail, Hail, to Michigan, the leaders and the best

YES! This was a great game! I remember watching it, just knowing that Michigan could come back in this one... One of the sweetest wins ever, even better because it kept Sparty fan shut up for one more year.

My favorite sports memory was definitely the 1985 NFL season, capped off by Super Bowl XX - one of the biggest blowouts in Super Bowl history. The '85 Chicago Bears are still regarded as arguably the best defensive team ever, and it was one helluva good time for all of us Bears fans.

I'm hoping tomorrow will be as magical. :D

Hers some more great moments.

Oregon Ducks vs. Oklahoma Sooners this year in college football. With 3 minutes left the game, the Sooners were ahead by 13, 33-20. The Ducks scored two touchdowns, including one set up by an onside kick, and blocked a field goal at the end of the game that would have won it for Oklahoma. It was the loudest I ever heard Autzen Stadium.

2002 NBA Semifinals game 4, LA Lakers vs. Sacramento Kings, with the kings up in the series 2-1. The Kings were up by one point in the game with about 20 seconds left, and after both Kobe and Shaq missed shots to win, Robert Horry got the rebound and made a 3 at the buzzer

Derek Fisher's game winning shot with 0.4 seconds left against the Spurs in the 2004 NBA Semis.

thanks for the correction in Liverpool-Alaves on the UEFA Cup.

here“s another one: its one of my favorites. Guatemala - Panama, they ended 2-1 for Guatemala in the Germany 2006 World Cup Qualifiers... The fragment you will see are the last 30 seconds of the game. Panama was getting a draw in Guatemala“s ground, basically if Guatemala finished with that score, was practically eliminated from the World Cup.
Pay attention to the people“s scream of joy at the moment of the goal...

I had several up until this year.

Joe Carters walk off homerun against Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams in the 1993 World Series, Toronta vs Philadelphia.

"The Catch", Joe Montana to Dwight Clark in the 1982 NFC Championship game, San Francisco vs Dallas.

But Boise St. 2 point conversion against Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl on the final play for the win was unreal. The game had everything, trick plays, heart breaking mistakes and great rally's. A sure classic in every sense of the word.

The Play November 20, 1982

Stanford University Cardinals
.vs.
University of California Bears

Who has never heard the crazy broadcast of that game.

ā€œ All right, here we go with the kickoff. Harmon will probably try to squib it and he does. The ball comes loose and the Bears have to get out of bounds. Rodgers is along the sideline, another one (lateral)... they're still in deep trouble at midfield, they tried to do a couple of (laterals)... the ball is still loose as they get it to Rodgers! They get it back now to the 30, they're down to the 20... OH, THE BAND IS OUT ON THE FIELD!! He's gonna go into the end zone! He's gone into the end zone!!
Will it count? The Bears have scored, but the bands are out on the field! There were flags all over the place. Wait and see what happens — we don't know who won the game. There are flags on the field. We have to see whether or not the flags are against Stanford or Cal. The Bears may have made some illegal laterals. It could be that it won't count. The Bears, believe it or not, took it all the way into the end zone. If the penalty is against Stanford, California would win the game. If it is not, the game is over and Stanford has won.

We've heard no decision yet. Everybody is milling around on the FIELD — AND THE BEARS!! THE BEARS HAVE WON! The Bears have won! Oh, my God! The most amazing, sensational, dramatic, heart-rending...exciting, thrilling finish in the history of college football! California has won the Big Game over Stanford! Oh, excuse me for my voice, but I have never, never seen anything like it in the history of I have ever seen any game in my life! The Bears have won it! There will be no extra point!

Hold it right here, don't anybody go away. After just about everybody on the kickoff team handled the ball, Kevin Moen finally did it. And he ran through 15 members of the Stanford band, nobody tackled him. The fool! Len Shapiro, our statistician, has just held up a card and it says the truth! The Stanford band just cost their team that ball game! The Stanford band ran out on the field, it left all the defenders in an impossible situation to get to the Bears carrying the ball. They couldn't tackle 'em. The band, in effect, served as extra blockers, the official had no choice but to let the play go as was. The Bears have scored on the kickoff, brought it all the way back. At least five men handled the ball on one lateral after another. I thought Rodgers was dead at one point. He got rid of the ball [cannon fire]. I believe it was Kevin Moen that Jan said that scored the winning touchdown as the kickoff came from the 25-yard line. This place is like it has never been, ever. The Stanford team can't believe it.
ā€

That will live on forever in sports.

Im suprised so many of peoples favourite sports moments contain the club they support and not there international team as much. Nothing can get me more emotional than the success of my national team.

The US team could beat Brazil 26-0 in the World Cup Final, or if you want real dramitics, the US team could be down 0-3 in the Final with less than a minute to play, score 4 goals, and I still wouldn't give a shit. It'd be the only World Cup winner in history no one cheered for, except theplayers, and their families, and the two fans the US team has.

Someone said soccer would be liked in the US because we have all our children playing it, hmmmm. I'm 30, I played it, was very good at it. My friends played it. We all hate it. Don't mind playing it, but I'd sooner watch paint dry than a soccer game. Children have been playing soccer on a regular basis in this country for 3 decades, and unless you consider the MLS a success, soccer hasn't become the slightest bit popular in 30 years as a major youth sport.

Firstly Jamie, football is going to get popular in USA as its too big to be ignored. In California, Arizona, Texas and the otehr states which border Mexico, all the hispanics will start playing football and it will become popular there, even among the white.

Secondly, my favourite moments. Man U Champions League Final, and the Semi Final in the FA Cup with Giggs goal. Middlebrough, needed 4 goals(for the second time in the KO stage) in the UEFA cup last season. Listening to it on the radio in the car, the commentator went crazy when they scored the fourth, and it was actually exiting, even though I support Newcastle.

England-Argentina, WC '98. Owens goal, and pretty much the whole match generally.

Lewis-Tyson, first heavywieght boxing match I watched live on PPV with my friends.

Zidanes headbutt, how great was that!

The US has been around 231 years as a country, and for over 200 years before that as a British, Spanish, and French owned territory. Soccer's been around at least as long, so if it hasn't gotten popular in over 400 years here, it never will be.

Actually, I think the opposite. The fastest growing sports internationally are baseball and basketball. I don't think Football is that far behind

The pitching standoff between mike mussina of the orioles and charles nagy of the indians in 97. I stopped watching baseball after that because nothing great ever seemed to happen again, I miss seeing cal play.

Syzygy, yer, I never saw the highlights of that match, but I read a couple of the amtch reports, so wanted to see it.

Jamie, football as a proper sport was invented about 140 years ago, after you were independant. Baseball is not really that popular outside of N.America. Softball is played a lot in Japan and some other Asian countries, but in Europe, S.America and Africa its barely played. In Europe Cricket is more popular. The closest we get to Baseball is rounders, which almost everyone stops playing after primary school. IMO, Cricket requires more skill then baseball.

Um, yes it does. The amount of swing and spin bowlers can get in cricket is way more then baseball pitchers can get. Pitchers cant even do spin as the ball dusn touch the ground, they can just do variations of swing and fast. Also, a cricket ball is damn hard, so a batsman, and fieldman, have to time their shots and catches almost perfectly, as one second out and they have a nasty injury.

Baseball is the #1 sport by far in Japan. Look at all the Japanese imports in MLB. The US sends their best players over their sometimes, and sometimes they get beaten by the Japanese all-stars. The last couple of years MLB has opened theri season in Japan. They will do so again this year.

You stop playing "Rounders" in primary school. Hmm doubt they have 100 mph fastballs in Rounders. Or curves, or sliders, or change ups, or 60 ft pitching distances, or balls hit at infielders at 150 mph. Take all that away, and yes then baseball becomes a kids game.

Soccer is only 140 yrs old??? Why than have I read about the greeks and Romans playing it thousands of years ago, and how is it than that a sport that is only 140 years old has caught on in countries all over the globe. Keep in mind global travel wasn't practical until commercial airflights, so until that time, things spread slowly. Baseball is 170 years old, and it is just now catching on with countries outside of N. America, though it's been popular in Japan since only the 1970's

BATMAN catches and manages to get 1 foot down for the touchdown. ARKANSAS WINS THE BOOT!
