Auschwitz. I read about it all the time. I love Joseph Mengele, the Angel of Death or the Angel of Auschwitz.

in a lot of cases...it might be best to try liberating oneself...through whatever vessel it ends up requiring. No economic system or government is likely to do that for you, and while id argue no religion is likely to either, for many it really does seem to have that type of effect.

same reason they tell you to stay positive, its all in the mind, if you think god will help you he wont but something will happen and you will think it was him.

It actually didn't do much, but I respect anyone who can do things and understand the consequences and feelings and emotions, but have no conscience (I pretend I don't have a conscience sometimes).

He did do interesting things to twins and curious experiments. He picked out the people who could work and couldn't. He was a gentleman sometimes, but became a maniac at others.

i guess ill be the one to say this....

Advancement or progress always comes at a cost. This is something we have to accept and be reasonable about to some extent. However, much like anything else, there are some prices which are far too high. The things that were done in order to learn the things that he did, were horrific and i find it quite likely that there will always be things we do not know. The suffering that he caused, was on a very large scale, for information that certainly would have been derived in other avenues eventually.

For someone who told me essentially that i would think differently if the invaders were on my own door, i find it almost stunning really that you could have such views toward one of the more evil men in recent history.

well noted but we owe much to what you would call evil people. take hitler for example, if he had not hated jews then jews would not of left germany. that would mean we would of never finished the a bomb and who knows what wouldve happened if those german scientists stayed in germany.

I disagree, these things all would have happened, just not in the same way. The bomb certainly would have been developed eventually and its rather absurd that you consider getting the bomb worth the numerous atrocities and the almost immesurable loss of life that occured as a result.

In fact....to boil down what you say.

You are arguing essentially it was worth the lives of over 10 million people to develop a weapon which could kill millions of people and severly harm many more.

Thats a bold assertion.

Auschwitz was more famous. Two million Jews and two million Russian soldiers were gassed there. Evil and good is what astounds me. I seem to think that TRUE good is gone.

of course its gone, the only diffrence between the worlds governments is what the people know about them. American people genrally know nothing of what their government does behind their back, some countries know all thats why you see revolutions, civil wars all of mankind is courupt in some way or another.

this is certainly true...but that fact that it happens in no way excuses any of the actions. You are talking about one of the great losses of life in the course of human history. For the benefit of the atom bomb and a better understanding of the anatomy. Frankly for someone who holds on to the ideal of a society where the individual is valued less than the collective, you simply cannot hold onto a viewpoint which disregards human life as such.

It not only is hypocritcal but betrays both the ideology you claim to hold on to and devalues its relavance...and the ideals of it to future discourse.

Modern society should hold amongst all of its values, if not chief among them, a desire to protect human life, and yet you have claimed that since it happens anyway, its alright. It is less bold, than terribly adjusted.

Children seem to be different than adults/teenagers. They're innocent and seem to be unmarred by the world. They seem more playful and friendly. I wish I was a naive child again and relive my childhood over again.

hold on there bob the builder, i never said it was ok i merely said that such things happen everyday and we advance only through sacrafice you must give up something to gain, do not think that i agree with gassing 10 million people because i dont, but with death usually come advancment i.e. all world wars

OK, so I guess you actually aren't willing to consider any information that contradicts your views on this. This almost reminds me of Backglass saying that he would believe in God if He showed himself and then in the next breath saying that gods only exist in the minds of men. You can't have it both ways. Either you're open-minded to other evidence or not.

I certainly hope these gays don't get a hold of the REPUBLICAN mailing list as we all know how easily fooled THEY are. THE CARNAGE! THE HORROR!

Once again you make me laugh. The thought of a homosexual driven conspiracy against the Republican Party is funny.

Now that I've had my chuckle though, I've noticed that you didn't dispute one thing I cited, but instead tried to divert attention away from what happened in the early 70's at the APA conventions.
