Okay let me get this worked out for you.

The universe is 93 billion light years across. That is a fact.

Somewhere, at an awkward edge of the universe, there's the milky way. At one end of the milky way, there's the solar system. The fourth smallest orbiting object in this system actually supports life, complex life, unlike the rest of the objects.

Now you want me to believe that the Creator of everything, everywhere, of all time and all space, actually gives a shit about what specific complex life form becomes the holder of the human fetish throne, and how they acknowledge his existence? You, sir, are ludicrously self-centered.

I like Ron Paul a lot. An honest politician capable of giving the Unites States a genuine dose of Libertarianism, but subservient to US interests, that is necessary for its economy to get back on foot.
However, it seems to me that the war on terror, far from false, is very real, and unless the US are preparedto fight Iraq out, they humiliate themselves, create a disastrous situation in Iraq, and give Al-Qaeda a symbolic victory. the troop surge appears to be working. I say we support the troops in the final push for victory in Iraq.

Libertarianism won't do us any good at this point. Class will be spread more and more apart, making the economy slower, making taxes harder to come by, making the budget frozen, etc. etc. etc.

On page 20 of S.1959 is the following:

SEC. 899E. PROTECTING CIVIL RIGHTS AND CIVIL LIBERTIES WHILE PREVENTING IDEOLOGICALLY
BASED VIOLENCE AND HOMEGROWN TERRORISM.
(a) IN GENERAL.—In carrying out this subtitle, the
Secretary shall ensure that the efforts of the Department
to prevent ideologically based violence and homegrown terrorism as described in this subtitle do not violate the constitutional rights, civil rights, and civil liberties of United States citizens and lawful permanent residents.

In your opinion jay, how are we being conned by this Act? What rights will be taken away? What freedoms will we lose?

Wow, you cot a small portion from page 20 and come to the conclution that there is nothing to fear?

From page 1:

`SEC. 899A. DEFINITIONS.

`In this subtitle:

`(1) COMMISSION- The term `Commission' means the National Commission on the Prevention of Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism established under section 899C.

`(2) VIOLENT RADICALIZATION- The term `violent radicalization' means the process of adopting or promoting an extremist belief system for the purpose of facilitating ideologically based violence to advance political, religious, or social change.

`(3) HOMEGROWN TERRORISM- The term `homegrown terrorism' means the use, planned use, or threatened use, of force or violence by a group or individual born, raised, or based and operating primarily within the United States or any possession of the United States to intimidate or coerce the United States government, the civilian population of the United States, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives.

`(4) IDEOLOGICALLY BASED VIOLENCE- The term `ideologically based violence' means the use, planned use, or threatened use of force or violence by a group or individual to promote the group or individual's political, religious, or social beliefs.

Hell, it all reeks of socialism. This means that anything the government find to be a "threat", even a non-violent "ideology".(those against the government: ie..Ron Paul supporters)

process of adopting or promoting...read the text. Then there's gitmo.

In the UK, it is the same, detention without trial, "religious/racial hatred" (basically an excuse to silence anti-immigrationists).

Iwouldn't say there's a massive conspiracy, but there are certainly some very wrong things with these laws and they are being passed by the same authoritarian governments.

Guiscard, it happens often. If those laws were for violent imams, why aren't we expulsing them? However many anti-islam demonstrations are broken up with police using violence. So yes, that is exactly were it has fallen heaviest.

We were talking about detention without trial, so you tell me...

How many 'anti-immigrationists' have been imprisoned without charge?

I know a hell of a lot of Muslims have, rightly or wrongly. Hundreds and hundreds. That was my point. Don't try and score points by claiming some ridiculous 'government is trying to get us' sympathy vote. I thought you were a tiny bit more attached to the real world thasn Jay or Xtra.

And I really love the jump from 'anti-immigrationist' to 'anti-Islam'... Saves us all making the assumption for ourselves when you come out as a true bigot of your own accord.

Guiscard, don't shift the focus here: ad hominem attacks generally get people dismissed as blithering idiots. The fact is that the really of Napoleon's post is rubbing your ideological grid all the wrong way and you have a proverbial case of sand in your craw about it.

No, he just has a proverbial case of "Nappy-Rash is talking shite again and trying to pass it off as serious and informed debate, if you were from the UK you'd probably realise that, and it'd probably annoy you too. How about shutting up until you know what you're talking about?"... at least, that's what it looks like he's got a case of to me.

Indeed.

What he posted was a blatant lie. He may have had a case for arguing that racial discrimination laws are unfairly applied to people like the BNP whilst being ignored for hate-preaching Imams (although I wouldn't necessarily agree). However, he made the false link between that and detention without trial. 'Anti-immigrationists' have categorically not been detained without trial to anything like the same degree as Muslims have (rightly or wrongly). Its not an ideological judgement on my part whatsoever. Just fact. I spent a fair amount of time trying to find a single case of someone fitting Nappy's description being subject to detention without trial, and I couldn't.

And you can't either, Jehan, as much as you'd probably like to.

No Guiscard, my post clearly has a comma between detention withouttrial (which I don't cpntend is used against anti-immigrationists or anti-islamificationists) and the laws regarding religious and racial hatred, which are, in the UK, France, Belgium and elsewhere.

Napoleon Ier- Neither your original post, nor the one explaining it, can be described as clear.

You should just clear it up and restate your argument. Punctuation shouldn't be fired out of a shotgun after you've finished writing.

I think I understand what you're saying, but it took me a few tries.

The laws concerning detention without trial are unjust and grant too much power to the government, and are a violation of any truly moral principles a civilization's justice system must have. They have yet to be applied to anti-immigrationists and those who defend their culture, family and religion against the islamo-fascist menace.

The laws concerning "incitement toreligious/racial" hatred are applied most unjustly to those who denounce Islam's principles and influence, whilst not being propely applied to imams who preach the slaughter of Jews and Christians.

My position? Both laws are awful. Free speech should allow imams to preach. Everyone, whether suspected of terrorism or not ought to have a fair and swift trial. However, if someone is a suspected terrorist/preaching hate, we can often deport them, as they often do not have citizenship of an EU nation. This is acceptable in my view.

I apologise for my difficultis in the anglo-saxon post norman tongue.
