It seems to me that there is a big difference between Communism in theory and in practice. In theory, even though it goes against almost all capitalistic American ideals, communism can be good, if handled correctly. Unfortunately, often times, the leaders of it take too much power and often becomes a totalitarian state where the people are oppressed and worse off than they started off as. Communism can work as long as a) the entire population supports it and b) the government does not abuse power.

There were probably millions who didn't vote (like 90% of people in the US don't vote). It's sad when people don't take advantage of democracy. Hitler didn't win the first election, but was able to gain many seats in the Parliament. The second election resulted in the Nazis taking over. Hitler became the ruler and soon abolished the Parliament of the Weimar Republic and declared himself the Fuhrer.

The Republicans weren't voted into power either AKA the Florida ballot.
