Lol and manchester our mid west? There are loads of wildwest shootouts in manchester. :)

Scotland=Canada, then London=New England pricks?

I'd say the analogy works etter if you consider Scots are like the residents American South, strongly anti-English/Yankee and have a strong sense of rebel pride, but come through whenever the Union actually need them.

They made a movie called Wax Museum, of course most people went there to see Paris Hilton get a pipe stuck through her head, but still.

You really don't here many (if any) songs about New England, the Southland and the West though, well, Alabama does a pretty good job with this.

um, hello?

there are lots of songs about the north, kiddo. you just haven't heard them. there's the famous Frank Sinatra one. They Might Be Giants has a song entitled "NYC". one of the best songs ever in the history of the universe:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p9IF0t73TEU

think of all of the hip hop (tons of it) that waxes poetical about Northern cities -- lots of artists -- like Wu-Tang (Shaolin is their word for Staten Island, i think), Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie Smalls. and that's just new york. in Philly, you've got: The Roots, Jill Scott, Will Smith, Beanie Siegel.

how about the Traveling Wilburys -- with that song about the NJ Turnpike, that made famous the line "anything's legal in Jersey so long as you don't get caught"

Bruce Springsteen writes about NYC, NJ, and Philly on the regular. hell, even Bon Jovi. and there's lots more i haven't even thought of right now off the top of my head.

check your facts, kid.

Uh, you know? Your preaching to the wrong person about rap. I have never considered it music. Do I really want to get into another argument about it? No, not really. Doesn't mean I don't like rap, just means I don't consider it music. Odd though, I was half expecting you to try and post Yankee Doodle Dandy, guess not.

Okay, I'll admit. Somethings are better in the north, like your criminals for one, but there's one thing that the South has that the North will never be able to get their hands on: Southern Hospitality.

well, when it has "southern" right in the name, i mean. wow.

how about i counter with Northern Literacy.

number of Ivy League schools in the south = 0

number above the mason dixon line = all 8 of them.

cause, you know, if you stuff your fingers in your ears, kick your feet up and down, and repeat it to yourself long enough, then it must be true.

by the way, air is toxic.

YOU CAN'T CONVINCE ME THAT IT'S NOT!

ps. also, i said HIP-HOP. not rap. rap is different from HIP-HOP. hip hop follows the same basic structure that rock and roll or old rhythm and blues does. so, by your logic, i guess James Brown's music wouldn't be music. of course, also, rock wouldn't be music, but let's not split hairs.

Well, no, accord them the right to superfluously dichotomize, the non-existant nuance exists only in their simple, vegetablized minds, but far be it from me to deprive poor inner city kids of the chance of feeling vaguely intellectual, even if they're discourse on the distinction probably is overshadowed by the fear one of the parties will pull a switch-blade knife on the opposing debater.

did you even read what i wrote? i said James Brown is old rhythm and blues. one could even go so far as to label him as being Funk. another one of those non-music music categories you probably deride.

and no, moron, Rap is NOT THE SAME as hip-hop. try picking up a fucking dictionary instead of your AM radio to listen to Limbaugh you uninformed, ignorant fool. rapping is a component of hip hop, not the sum total.

it's like saying acapella = rock and roll. it's not.

1. I read what you wrote, you were trying to make a claim about James Brown being a part of of hip hop, when the two are completely different.

2. Want to try some rap and hip hop artists as examples? Also, I don't listen to AM radio, I listen to whatever the hell I want to, whether you like it or not. So stop stereotyping you pompous baffoon.

3. Do you even KNOW what accapella is? It may not "=rock n roll" but it is included in not only rock, but nearly every style of music. It is not a separate style unto itself.
