If someone described asked me to describe myself in one word, that word would be: Rocker

As far as belts go. We have a fairly simple system:

White
Green
Brown
White with black stripe down the middle-Assistant instructor's belt for kid's class, usually a brown belt.
Black
Red-reserved for grand master.

The actually rankings are a little more complex though.

Belts for my class are.

White
Yellow
Orange
Blue
Purple
Green
Red
Brown
Black

I am currently a green belt, and the Purple belt is fairly new to our class, and I had the privelage of being the first to attain that rank! :D

In kindergarten I joined a little karate class on weekends. Only thing mentionable was that we had a little contest at the end where they layed a wall of foam bricks higher and higher and each round we had to jump over it... out of 40 people I came in second, only losing to a kid about 10 years older than I... But some of you probably did that activity all the time I'm sure.

erm yeah ahem

That's pretty common in contact sparring. It makes sense; while you can usually kick harder, it isn't as likely that you'll hit the other guy repeatedly with kicks to the face. That is much easier to do with punches.

Well, we had a brown belt test before Christmas and surprisingly everyone passed it (all 15 of them.) Usually, despite the fact that my sensei tries to make sure that everyone is ready when they take a test, someone always forgets the history or chokes on Pimpo or another kata and doesn't pass.

We have done mainly Muay Thai, Kempo, Judo, Jujitsou (spelling?), Freestyle Wrestling, Boxing, Normal Kickboxing, Tae Kwon Do, Akido, and a little Kung-Fu. But since my senseis are, for the most part, MMA fighters, we tend to focus more on that stuff. Though we do weapons as well (with katanas being the main weapon along with the bo staff). I must admit though, I have always been more of a grappler/wrestler, due to using my size very well while doing those, and my stamina lasts longer doing those moves then stand-up. I have also been called a "wet mattress" because people have a hard time trying to throw me. That about sums it up.

You ment to say Jujitsu, but that's ok.

My "training" is two college quarter's worth of college Judo, Tae Kwon Do and four weeks of free MMA classes at a local school. Before that, it was the training of the schoolyard; learn to duck and dodge or learn to fight like Rocky and get beat up. Then again, I was probably in better shape then too.

I'm a tall guy, 6 foot four inches and 200 pounds (not too baddly out of shape, but my gut isn't as frim as I'd like it to be), I've always thought I'd be a great kicker. Found out the hard way that it's easier, to say nothing about being more effective, to mix it up. As soon as things start to flow financially again, I might just start up at that place again.
