I believe the Great Babylon mention here is the United States of America. It will be destroyed in one days time (other translations say "one hour").
I think the destruction will come due to Yellowstone Park's super volcano. If it blows the USA is history.
Discuss.

Possibly Great Babylon was a name for the Babylonia Empire? Y'know?

Where do you get this from? the King James annotated? is there a footnote: 'giant locusts = helicopters' - who told you that john is talking about future technology and not just dreaming of massive insects? Seriously, where do you get this from?jay_a2j wrote:heavycola wrote:So... He was talking about a "country 2000 years away" yes. John had REVELATIONS (hence the book title Revelation) about FUTURE events. John saw these things, and put them down in words he could relate to because the technology he was seeing did not exist in his day.
And one translations says, "Babylon the Great will NEVER AGAIN be inhabited". So your theory could not possibly be correct.

No, Hal Lindsey has been studying End Time Prophesy for over 30 years, he has written numerous book on the subject. I, unlike some here, read. The meaning of Revelation was "locked up" until the time of the end. Now people are really starting to understand the meaning of Revelation.

This is the general description of the Roman Catholic Church's understanding of the book from Catholic Answers.
