Unexpectedly good 'cocktails'

Postby AlgyTaylor on Thu May 08, 2008 6:16 am

Glass used: pint glass

First pour half a pint of your favourite white cider in (eg White Lightening)
Then add in half a pint of your favourite superlager (eg Tennents Super, Special Brew)

Drink.

Tastes surprisingly nice (especially considering both White Lightening and Super taste bloody awful on their own)

Any other recommendations for similar bizarre, but importantly NICE, cocktails?

Just thought of another

Buckfast (75%) + Vodka (25%) + a small quantity of speed = turbo Buckfast. For those times when normal Bucky just doesn't get you fucked up enough. 8-)

I think that's called a "Blueberry".

When I was a barman, we'd call that a "snakebite", and it was banned in a lot of pubs.

Jaegarbombs or if you want to be less PC use Unicom Sweiss instead of Jaegarmeister and call it a UniBomber...

EDIT: I should probably point out that a Jaegarbomb is a shot of Jaegarmeister bombed in a glass of red bull/relenetless/speed etc ... You can also do this with Bucky and have Buckybombs but thats blashpemy because the monks invented bucky and red bull is adervtised by the devil and hence we would have an unholy alliance. Snakebite is for goths and should only be drunk by teenagers and grown up emos, especially when mixed with blackcurrant, but if you must use Scrumpy Jack cider instead of white cider cause its better ok.

in the USA, if you order a 'snakebite', you'll most likely get a shot of Yukon Jack with a splash of lime juice.

kind of a girly drink. like a soco and lime.
have you ever seen an idealist with grey hairs on his head?
or successful men who keep in touch with unsuccessful friends?
you only think you did
i could have sworn i saw it too

Yeah ... I learnt all about Bucky while I was living in Scotland :D

Did a lot of alchy alchemy back in those days. Take any 'lowest common denominator' drinks you can find, mix them up, see if you can make something nice out of them

Made a lot of errors trying to get those two ..... Bucky, Special Brew + Irn-Bru .... what the hell were we thinking?

Yeah, it's snakebite over in the UK. Although that particular concoction is more 'Trampbite' ;) (a tramp is a bit like a hobo)

Beer float!

Two scoops of vanilla ice cream in a large glass, fill 'er up with your choice of beer (light, fruity beers work best... think Belgian Whites... it's counter-intuitive but stouts and even chocolate stouts don't work so well with the beer float).

That sounds interesting. I think I'll try it this summer.

Holy Water

* 1 oz. Curacao, blue
* 1 oz. Sour Raspberry Pucker
* 3 oz. Sprite
tastes just like a grape drink
(more for those that don't like strong tasting drinks!)

A snakebite anywhere in the South is half cider, half Guinness...

Half Guinness and half Boulevarde is called a Yellowjacket...

I thought you said you were a bartender? hahaha!!!

I went to a bar one night just wanting to drown my sorrows, and ended up leaving with a rather beautiful woman. We both went back to her place and had angry sex all night. She knew a whole slew of crazy tricks, and didn't have a gag reflex.

When I woke up the next morning, she was gone. I noticed a note on the night table next to the bed. The note said:

"Great night. Now, get the f*ck out!!!"

Unexpected, but I didn't mind. I never saw her again.

One of my favorite unexpectedly good cock tales.

banned from most pubs, because of it's cloudy look and people tend to get violent with it.

Algy, i use to have Eldorado instead of Bucky when going up to see Rangers. i was a teenager who did not know any better. :D

I may have to explain what a "shandy" is for US readers: It's a mix of beer (usually bitter or lager) and what we Brits call "lemonade", i.e. clear fizzy pop.

I knew one guy who used to make a "Shandy" by mixing a lemonade alcopop with an alcohol-free beer, which has to be one of the most pointless things I've ever heard.

NO, wait, it would be even more pointless to tell you guys about it...(oops :? )

There are lots of variants on that here, beer mixed with Coke (or Pepsi) is called "Diesel", with Sprite or something similar it's an "Alster", I have no idea what it's called if you mix it with Fanta, but there's probably a name for that as well. Many breweries actually sell the stuff already bottled for your convenience, flavours used include, lime, cola, dragonfruit, grapefruit, orange, and probably a dozen more I can't think of now or haven't encountered yet. It's really caught on here.

Beer (off the draught known as Schop) and Fanta mixed is very popular in Chile. They call it Fanchop. For the record its crap.

jones: you could of course mix lemonade based alcopop (shall we say smirnoff ice (which as an interesting aside is a far call from vodka and lemonade being in reality brewed by a process not dissimilar to beer)) with real beer thus producing the turbo shandy, a popular social climber in the burgeoning weekend world of tart-fuel.
