I have never been shot with a live round, yet I have had a blank go off in my hand aiming towards my right leg. I have a mark there.

i've been shot AT, but didn't get hit, fortunately. i've always wondered what it feels like.

brooksieb, what's it like? and where were you shot, on your body? is it a lot more painful than a well landed punch, or getting hit with a rock? cause those are a dull pain, they aren't as bad as getting cut with a knife.

that was the worst pain i've ever been in, getting cut. i took the blade on my left forearm (i'm right dominant), but i got lucky... i threw the block, and the blade landed exactly where it needed to, cutting up against bone, not muscle. so i was still able to use my left arm in the fight.

it was a nasty fight. fucking terrifying. i think i was just as terrified in that fight as i was when i got shot at. that mortal fear.... brooksieb, i'm sure you know it. the kind that starts behind your eyes somewhere, and sweeps down your body, settling in your groin. i guess you could call it a sinking stomach, but that's not a complete enough description.

it's funny what you do with that fear, too. that "fight or flight" response. funny how your mind can go faster than ever before, all that adrenaline... makes you capable of things you didn't know you could do. strength you didn't know you had.

well if you got loads of adrenaline like when i was fighting in the falklands it dont hurt when ya get shot but after it killed i got shot in the leg i was hiding behind a rock but it was a small rock so my leg was accidently sticking out it got shot at, with a rifle, another story in northern ireland i was patrolling looking for IRA guys and its pretty hard kinda like what are boys are fighting in afghanistan, its hard cause they dont wear uniforms like in the falklands so you gotta be careful you dont shoot the rong person so i was in a crowd and a guy had a handgun and took it out and aimed for my head, it narrowly missed and he fired another shot that hit my arm though my patrol buddy with me was able to shoot and kill him before he killed me, i still thank him till this day

that's standard calibre for the AK-47, or as the thugs on the streets in Philly call the gun, the "chopper".

and that round hit you in the leg? f*ck all, dude. hope it just knicked you. that had to suck. i've seen what 7.62 mm does to the human body...

yer its not exactly the same but theres a gun that uses a similar bullet

though the ones in northern ireland were mainly handguns so that was okay though another hard part was actually getting de-militarised and civilianised

I have never been shot, but I shot my brother with a BB gun on accident.
I was about 7 or 8 and he was 9 or 10. I was mad at him for something, but I can't remember what it was. Anyway, one day he caught a rabbit, and was building a pen for the rabbit. I knew it would piss him off if I killed his rabbit, but I missed the rabbit and shot him in the arm. All I remember after that is my daddy dragging me by my arm to the house and then whooping my butt so hard. That is the one, and only time I ever got a whooping from my dad. I darn sure didn't want another one. I know my whooping hurt more than me shooting my brother with a BB gun.
