It was Trump. Trying to distract the media from his latest gaffe in Israel.

People's willingness to be vicious and cruel to each other consistently horrifies me. On the other hand, being afraid to joke about bad things doesn't make them less bad.

When you two respond within minutes making it a joke, I think you might well be the very definition of "too soon". Eric Idle at least waited a couple of thousand years for a death. You guys are mocking an event as people are still being pulled of the rubble.

I don't think you're doing anything remotely similar.

Yes, I know.

In fact, as soon as I heard the news, before they even said where it happened, I realized whomever made the first post would probably be in trouble because - wherever it occurred - was probably the place you sat for your a-levels at, first fell in love at, learned to ride a bicycle in, and debuted as Bardolph in.

It could have happened at a sheep shearing festival in the Vale of Glamorgan or in the middle of a field in the Outer Hebrides.

Ultimately, I decided I should be the one to throw myself on this grenade. No pun intended.

I still remember that you know how to push my buttons on this stuff. I remember you doing this over the IRA when you knew that I had relatives who died in the Terror.

So well done, you pushed a button. I reacted. You hurt me.

Congrats. you're a real fucking hero.

It was obviously Wikileaks. Assange has made Sweden back down and now he thinks he can make the UK back down too. Well you will NOT WIN 'Mr' Assange.

saxi was the bomber? Does that mean we're all talking to saxibot right now while the real life saxi resassembles himself?

This is a Manchester United marketing ploy, similar to how the Boston Strongs bombed the marathon. Ariana Grande's music is objectively terrible. The real crime is that 21k people paid to see her in Manchester and the bomber probably didn't have a ticket.

Guardian readers think Theresa May was the bomber

these are the same people that think Trump colluded with Russia

I was actually hoping to change my vote to a write in for Theresa May. Corbyn's been picking up steam in his election campaign while May's floundering, and this is just what she needs to throw him off course while she gets back on track.

edit: fk you saxi I thought it first

Very Horrific, and I agree that it is not a joking matter, even for insensitive gamer types, but I think that the greater question is what should be the response? Is it wrong to label this as a radical Islamist thing that is tacitly supported by mainstream Muslims and to take preventative measures against all Muslims? Or will this kind of response just alienate more Muslims and fuel Radicalism by more moderate types?

Or should we take a less politically correct path and do everything possible to safeguard western venues by increasing scrutiny on all Muslims who might pose a danger ala the Donald?

How will this, or how should it, affect current politics in Western Europe, including impending votes in the UK?

So saddened by current events but still hopeful that we will all somehow find a better way.
