this guy almost certainly didn't do anything illegal (at least not what he was accused of) but was still sent to prison.

One thing I totally agree with Jay on; a movement towards enforced identification is extremely worrying. And wrong.

In no way does it guarantee that "if you've done nothing wrong, you've nothing to fear"

But...why shouldn't the police be able to ID you? If they ask for it they have a reason for it don't you think? Being ID's is not treating you as a criminal, but asking you to proof that you are who you say you are. If a cop stops you for having a broken tail-light asking you to ID yourself makes sure you don't give a false name. They wouldn't have a reason to search you though.

Ambrose....thanks for the clarification on that one, im not sure why i missed that. Im sure theres an argument on the other side of it, but that does seem to have the higher ground.
