The police will be able to drive by wherever you are and scan your Real ID bringing up all your info. on his monitor.

What's the problem with that? Criminals will have nowhere to hide. We have nothing to fear unless we've done illegal stuff.

I seriously don't get why you're so paranoid.

this guy almost certainly didn't do anything illegal (at least not what he was accused of) but was still sent to prison.

One thing I totally agree with Jay on; a movement towards enforced identification is extremely worrying. And wrong.

In the street, by a policeman, I would say that either being searched or ID'd is essentially treating you as a criminal, that you somehow do not have the right to walk down the street.

But...why shouldn't the police be able to ID you? If they ask for it they have a reason for it don't you think? Being ID's is not treating you as a criminal, but asking you to proof that you are who you say you are. If a cop stops you for having a broken tail-light asking you to ID yourself makes sure you don't give a false name. They wouldn't have a reason to search you though.

Ambrose....thanks for the clarification on that one, im not sure why i missed that. Im sure theres an argument on the other side of it, but that does seem to have the higher ground.
