If you were to ask a thousand seven-year olds (ignoring the total creepiness of that) who the most important person of Christmas was, how many of them do you think would say Jesus?

Not bashing Christmas or anything, love the holidays, just noticed that consumerism is...quite the force.

i disagree, i think it would be higher amongst younger children than it would be in a typically young adult demographic. Even somewhat non practicing families tend to at least make the motions of trying to raise their children religious.

that the notion of consumerism necessarily has taken away the mention of if not entirely the focus of christmas away from young children, at least the group he mentioned in his poll.

Under 100, for sure. I think the vast majority would say something along the lines of presents and giving to the poor and needy. Very few young children, I believe, think of holidays as a religious events unless they were drilled with such notions all their life.
