Uh, that's historically true. Why do you think the crusades happened? The seperation of church and state is a relatively new idea.

This seperation has happened though.

(This is from someone who didn't watch this movie, went to college, and took world history classes though)
They made it sound as if it was Freemason type of thing. Like it has been a single group throughout history, that is what I meant.

And that is not a possibility?

btw...anyone read Behold the Pale Horse?
Considering the Freemasons didn't come into being until the Medieval Ages?
"Eh, whatever."

Ooh it already starts good, 5 minutes with suggestive videos/pictures without any talking.
And then this guy starts talking..

it goes downhill very fast.
"Some motherfuckers are always trying to ice skate uphill."

Duane: You know what they say about love and war.
Tim: Yes, one involves a lot of physical and psychological pain, and the other one's war.

I liked the opening music intro, but when the guy starts talking with that weird looking background, it makes you go,"What the hell?!" Almost as if it is trying to brainwash you....

Sorry neph. So it's kind of late on the kids thing here.

Uh, should I have them put to sleep, or put them up for adoption to gay people?

So, real facts come from books? Newspapers? Media? And might as well shut down the internet as we can't trust any of the websites. The "misinformation highway"?

This concept of the "media" being responsible for various problems (in this thread, for instance, it has hypnotized America or something along those lines) is pretty popular. Heck, even more specific, the liberal media. When did all of the forms of media get together, decide on their political stances and an agenda, and go out and physically do anything? The media reports news. The slant that they put on that news is negligible to anyone who doesn't take newspapers, television, and books word for word as absolute, unquestionable truth.

Because unlike youtube, most academic books list sources and proof. And most books in the non-fiction section are actually released with FACTS. I know it sounds weird, but that's just how the world seems to work.

Wait a second... jay I am 12 minutes in and so far, apart from the heavy-handed propaganda and some dude laughably saying 'the harder you look the more lies you find' (a true paranoiac)... doesn't this movie basically trash religion? And doesn't that include yours? You are recommending this film - have you given up on christianity as well as george w bush?

He thinks the first third is garbage and that the rest is the truth. The usual reaction to Christianity's similarity to other religions is that Satan planted them there to fool us, although the whole Jesus being born 1000 years after those religions started makes that argument pretty weak in my opinion. Oh, and the whole not believing Satan exists thing.

Care to quote that frig? He doesn't say any of it's garbage in this thread.

This is not the one I was thinking we were talking about Jay. I thought you were talking about that one Norse posted, that said Moses was made up. This one eventually said that too.

By the end of part one it seemed mostly to be explaining how astrology is the basis of religion and that christianity is just a copy of others from before, including one quote that calls it a "parody".

Guiscard, what's your knowledge on the things in part one regarding histories of the repeating religious theme?

So what's your take on part one. It seems contrary to where I thought you would stand.

I'm wondering what the rest of the movie has that may change my perception on it as a whole.

I've made it through part 2.

I'm wondering about all the firefighters and others on the scene in there. What's everyone's take on them, actors, shell shocked, delusional?

I'm having a problem with the idea presented at around 55 minutes. During part two, they are stating that there were norad exercises including scenarios where planes would hit buildings at the time the real planes hit the trade centers.

How was that suppressed? No one I recall has come forward talking about that or was I too busy and missed it?

The polka tune at 1 hour is most exellent!!

You are aware that this also "disproves" Christianity? What's your take on that part of it?

It doesn't disprove Christianity....it shows similarities with other religions. Which can be expected if you know anything about who might want false religions to emerge.

He doesn't feel the first third is garbage, that's true, I misworded it a bit there. He feels that the conclusions they draw are garbage. When he says "if you know anything about who might want false religions to emerge" he must be referring to something supernatural considering that the "false" ones were practiced thousands of years before Christianity. I took a bit of a jump to my conclusion, but I think that's what he meant.

Ok, I just was wondering if I missed something.

Jay, I finally found the part you're saying we watched and talked about. It's a pretty small piece at the end. It was edited different in the youtube one from before.

I liked the very end of it and the polka at 1 hour in best.

Yeah...I must have got them confused...there were some of the same parts in both films....and I have gone through so many of these types of films I got them confused. My bad.

No worries. I didn't love this one. It was really well done but there were a couple of things that didn't line up from my perspective. I didn't like the way they put sound on some of the footage that I've seen before without it. I'm sure it was intentional to make it more dramatic and it does work.

That polka is awesome.

Have a good evening.
