Ethno music discussion

I love croatian ethno music, especially mixed with modern electronic sounds. Livio Morosin : "pastirski ples" rocks!

http://www.liviomorosin.com/

Go to discography button wait when beside it you see "3 naranče" written, then click and select song nmb. 8!

Post your country ethno songs.

nah, just like this one song. i'm more into slavonic and zagorje sounds when it comes to ethno music. i don't listen much of it, it's probably our "foreign is better" complex, there is a lot of good music here if u disregard "narodnjaci" and "estrada".

usually i listen rock, hard rock and electronic music. but u must take a break from it every now and then...

btw Eurovision this year was better then usually (when it's plain crap) mostly thankfully to eastern europe folk sounds. western sound has become too mainstream and boring.

this was my favorite:

I like a great many different kinds of Latin music.

Some favs:

The first musician I was ever crazy about: Joan Baez.

Julieta Venegas, from Mexico, is classically trained, a folk aficionado, and heavily influenced by rock and indie. Her most recent album also has a bit of hip-hop/reggaeton in it.

I'm a big son fan, and I love Celia Cruz, of course.

Down Brazil way, I've always loved bossa nova, but I've also recently gotten into more traditional music. Forro, which has recently gained a lot of currency in Brazil, really gets me going. My favorite forro band is actually from New York; they're called Forro in the Dark.

A European Latin genre that I also enjoy is Fado. Play me any Amalia Rodrigues song and I will weep and weep and weep. They say that Amalia used to break up with her lovers just so she could get new material for her songs.

Malaguena is another genre of really pathetically sad music that I love to listen to.
