Excuse my ignorance in this but I would have thought that if the immigrants are already driving then it makes sense to give them a test and a licence - Is the real issue the question of this being the thin edge of the wedge ?

... NY would not be the first to issue licenses to illegals. One of the Carolinas did this, as did Nevada, years back. Those programs were cancelled due to the massive fraud that ensued shortly thereafter (not just voter fraud).

Luns does not endorse this platform. I have it from a reliable source that his 'licenses for illegals' program is based around the need to get illegal immigrants off the pavement and onto the street - driving good legal Americans home.

Imagine the situation: 'Darlene, we need to drive the chevy back to the ranch... but I've had a few to many Coors...' 'Don't worry Chuck! We'll get the Mexican chap to drive! Now he's got his own license he's a godsend!'

Not only will the program get illegals off the pavement but it will but automobile mortalities too!

... It's called "Motor-Voter", and it's very convenient. A great idea, generally, but without any checks of any kind on eligibilty to vote, it's dangerous when you start passing out licenses to criminals. The Honor System just isn't good enough.
