It's funny because the old testament God kicked ass, and today people are doing things that are worse (doing meth and having sex with male hookers, anyone?) and don't expect any shit.
there is some really bad stuff in the OT
for example, (i think it's in judges, but can't be bothered to get the exact chapter) a guy lets a priest into his house, and when the rest of the town comes to take him for some reason, he lets them rape his daughter rather than take the priest! and this is supposed to be utterly good!
