Best security software

Postby High Guard on Sat Aug 11, 2007 3:10 pm

I have tried pretty much every security software there is AVG, Kaspersky, Norton, you name it. My favorite of them all is NOD32. What's yours ?

AVG is my personal favorite. it updates every day so i feel that it will be able to detect the new viruses, and the scan speeds are OK, not too great, but not too slow either. the first complete scan that i ever ran cleared 180 trojan horses, while norton never found anything even when something was obviously wrong with my computer..norton is horrible; I'LL NEVER USE IT AGAIN.

AVG is ok, I used to use it, but then I found NOD32, scanned, found so much stuff AVG never noticed even with constant updates.

Norton is the worst, it slows down your computer extremely and can't detect much of anything.

NOD32? i am interested.
i have a recent issue of Consumer Reports (sep 2007), and according to their report, Norton only has mediocre detection, but excellent scan speed -_-. AVG is also there, along with Avast Home Edition from Alwil. AVG was in last place, with mediocre detection but very good scan speed. there were 12 tested in all. Trend Micro's AntiVirus + AntiSpyware did the best..with very good detection capability and excellent scan speed.
the things that are most important to me when choosing an anti-virus is scan speed and detection...and also ease of use.
another edit..i checked on download.com, and dang, it seems Nod32 really is good, at $40 (is that one-time or for a year subscription?). i would definitely get it, but i have to convince my dad, since he's the one with the credit card.

It's hardware, got it off of ThinkGeek but they don't carry it anymore.

Choose COMODO, it's the best software I know that is free.

But I was saying that COMODO gives you the best even if you don't pay. Others like avast! make you pay if you want a better version of it.

Only if you're trying to buy the professional version. Avast is free for personal use and I've never once gotten a virus since installing it (in fact, it's warned me when emails and websites have tried to connect and install a virus onto my machine)

COMODO is a good software, about on the same lvl as AVG, but I will still choose NOD32 over any of those anyday.
