Chairman Trump unites Asia

Postby bigtoughralf on Mon Mar 31, 2025 5:00 pm

.. in opposition to the USA!

China, Japan and South Korea agreed to jointly respond to U.S. tariffs, a social media account affiliated with Chinese state broadcaster CCTV said on Monday.

The comments came after the three countries held their first economic dialogue in five years on Sunday, seeking to facilitate regional trade as the Asian export powers brace against U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs.

During Sunday's meeting, the countries' trade ministers agreed to "closely cooperate for comprehensive and high-level" talks on a South Korea-Japan-China free trade agreement deal to promote "regional and global trade", according to a statement released after the meeting.

I hate to admit when you make a ‘point’.. but I agree this is clearly bad for the USA and the West in general.

I maintain you have no right to lecture us on our political decisions… especially on internal matters like Student Visas.

However you do have a right to an opinion on political and economic decisions that impact the Globe.

Obviously other countries will react to the actions of the USA… and I don’t think Trump and Co. actually think they will. I believe he’s wrong and this is evidence of that. He’s pushing our Allies away… and that’s (IMHO) dumb and dangerous.

Tariff threats… and actual tariffs.
Crazy large tariffs… I mean go slow man… 25% out of the gate?
Threats to Greenland, Canada, Panama.

These are all bad.

(For the record when we ‘returned’ the Canal Zone to Panamanian control I said/believed it was bad. That said…once we ceded that it was done… and trying to reclaim it 20-30 years later is not a ‘great loo’. Had we never ceded it it might have looked bad, but no one would’ve really cared.)
