- 45 out of every 100 Americans passionately - insanely - opposed to Biden and another 20 who only supported him because they don't like Trump
- A conservative supermajority on the Supreme Court and a huge reservoir of cash with which to file infinite obstructionist lawsuits against Biden
- So many Trump executive orders that it may take 20 years to undo them all
- An outgoing Administration willing to burn this bitch to the ground on the way out the door, and leave the ashes for a frail and elderly Biden to reassemble
- A large GOP Senate minority willing to liberally filibuster
- Historic precedent for Republicans to sweep both chambers of Congress in 2022
If Biden wins, he will accomplish nothing. He will be obstructed, sandbagged, and sabotaged at every step of the way.
For what it's worth, it's nice to see the occasional bit of honesty from the Right. Yup, essentially a replay of what you did to Obama. Put party ahead of country, that is the way.
Except people do learn. Slowly, with difficulty, and sometimes with relapses and regressions, but they do learn. On the issues that matter, people will get it done. Whether through the Democrats or through moderate Republicans or through a third party or through non-partisan lobbying, they will get it done.
Insulin-dependant diabetics are rising fast in the U.S. More and more are asking why they pay $500/month for a drug that people in any other country can get for $70/month. There is a mountain of opposition building to the Federal government's coddling of Big Pharma. It will be ended. It doesn't matter if Biden's plan is stopped, some other plan will pass. One way or another, through the Democrats or through moderate Republicans or through a third party or through non-partisan lobbying, people will get it done.
People are tired of trying to go out for a burger and having some hillbilly at the table next to them rubbing his Glock through the entire meal, putting everybody on edge. There is a mountain of ordinary people sick and tired of the Federal government coddling of the gun lobby. Sensible gun regulation will come. I don't even know if Biden will attempt it, but it will come. One way or another, through the Democrats or through moderate Republicans or through a third party or through non-partisan lobbying, people will get it done.
More and more people are losing their homes to climate change. Wildfires in the west, hurricanes in the south, droughts in the midwest and tornadoes everywhere. There is a mountain of people who are sick and tired of Deniers setting the agenda and coddling Big Oil. Sooner or later the U.S. will start to go green. One way or another, through the Democrats or through moderate Republicans or through a third party or through non-partisan lobbying, people will get it done.
Roe vs. Wade is as good as dead, that much is known. For a little while, there will unfortunately be an increase in women forced to go through with bad pregnancies. But most people know that it's a bad idea to do that. The religious bigots have peaked now, is my reading of the numbers. They still have enormous power, but I believe it's less than it was five or ten years ago, and it's on the ebb. Legal abortion will be preserved through the ballot box rather than through the artifice of a legal technicality, which quite honestly is how it should have been done n the first place. One way or another, through the Democrats or through moderate Republicans or through a third party or through non-partisan lobbying, people will get it done.
Free education will come from simple economic pressure. As the U.S. continues to price its universities high enough that only the rich can send can send their kids to a good university, while Europe and Asia educate anyone who qualifies, the former will lose its technological edge while the latter will continue to advance. More and more people ask why working class Europeans can become doctors but not working class Americans. One way or another, through the Democrats or through moderate Republicans or through a third party or through non-partisan lobbying, people will get it done.
