Part of the same generation.

Bowie, the Sweet, Mott the Hoople, T-Rex were all part of the Glam Rock movement. So, can't really say that any of the four were knockoffs of any other. They all evolved pretty much simultaneously.

I was trying to find a youtube of "Dream on", a very romantic lyrical little piece to show some contrast, but I thin you have to listen to the whole album to get to it. Meanwhile,
