I could have sworn he was dead already. He must have been 250 years old. Did coronavirus get him?

Napoleon was a subhuman asshole. One of the worst pieces of shit to ever walk the earth. Sold out the high ideals of the Revolution for pure personal hubris. Almost seven million people died as a result of his wars. Possible ten times as many were driven into destitution by cost of those wars. Easily one of the most despicable mass murderers of all time. Could hold his head high eating dinner with Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Attila and Tamerlane.

Napoleon was the greatest. Even though we have many things named after him in the U.S. - Napoleon Avenue, Lake Bonaparte in New York, Mount Bonaparte, etc. - we should have even more named before next year's 200th anniversary of his death. Imagine if his ship had managed to evade the Royal Navy and he had made it to asylum in the United States, instead of being intercepted and taken to Saint Helena, how different the world would be!

“My great mistake was to turn to the English and to wind up on Saint Helena. If I were in America, everything would go well, whereas here, everything goes badly. It’s all an error.”

One of my favorite songs from Crystallion's Napoleon rock opera "100 Days" - I think it perfectly captures the terror that must have gripped the British and Prussians when they learned that The Leviathan had returned from Elba!

------Don't worry...it has been only 199 years ago...Next year , Napoleon will have died 200 years ago...May 5th, 1821...Napoleon's favorite person...George Washington...Yet ,during the French Revolution...He didn't have Washington's right hand man Lafayette..(who returned to France, after the American Revolution)...Fight in the Napoleononic Wars... Lafayette was there,he died in 1834...You think he would have had someone close to his hero,by his side, while Napoleon was Emperor of Europe...More Kool 8-) facts next year...Get ready...Bettieko :D ...... I assume maybe because Lafayette was seen as too close to the US and the US had canceled its mutual defense treaty with France after Britain declared war?

IIRC Napoleon offered to make Lafayette ambassador to the US but he declined. Lafayette's son (George Washington's godson) did serve as a junior officer in the French Army under Napoleon, though, if I'm not mistaken. I know Lafayette visited Joseph Bonaparte at his exile home in New York after Waterloo. That was the same trip during which George Washington's body was exhumed so that Lafayette could be given a relic from it and where Congress voted to give Lafayette a big chunk of Florida as a birthday gift ... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lafayet ... _York_City)
