A trans-Pacific maglev rail line would eliminate a lot of air traffic. I'd start San Francisco to Hong Kong, but there could eventually be spur lines to Australia, Japan, and the Philippines.

Bridge from Florida to Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico always gets the worst of earthquakes and hurricanes. Each knocks out the electricity for months. No supplies and it is hard to flee the island.
