The pools here started making a big deal of keeping children within arms length. Ok, probably a good idea if they can't swim.
So about eight years ago I was pretty feeble, recovering from back issues, sometimes walking was difficult, I could sort of swim. My son for some reason really took to swimming and after his first session of lessons he could easily do a few lengths of the pool.
I take him, his sister and her friend swimming. On the way in based on age, the lady taking money says, "You need to keep him at arms length at all times." Pointing at my som. I said, "Why? He is an excellent swimmer but I doubt he is strong enough to pull me out of the water if I get in trouble."
Once we were in the pool the lifeguards did not have any problem with him going off the diving boards into the deep water because it was obvious he was a strong swimmer.
I still find that story amusing.
