I'm strictly wondering why people want mixed gender multiple toilet rooms?

I don't even want multiple toilet men's rooms, the facilities in public buildings should be a single toilet per well exhausted room with a locking door so you can poop in peace no matter what you are. The signs can say toilet. All genders welcome.

That's the way the new MacDonalds/Esso station is built here in Niagara Falls. A single hallway marked washroom. Four cubicles off that hallway, each with a toilet and a sink. Each cubicle locks independently. No gender signs needed.

I think you'll see that more and more often in the future.

This is fine in restaurants and other venues that need only a handful of toilets.

It won’t work in stadiums or ballparks where 100’s of people are using the bathroom simultaneously.

It won’t work in old historic theatre’s were space and renovation opportunities are limited.

I agree it’s fine design and smarter for several reasons... but it’s not a catch all solution.

I really don't understand how sharing a toilet is thought to be a big bonus.

If I am in a cubical and some other man is in the room yet outside the cubical I tend to wait for the guy to leave before expressing my bowels to protect him from having to hear and smell what is about to happen.

You're telling me women want to come in there. Why?

Segregated bathrooms generally provide the same amount of floor space for men’s and women’s toilets. However, because peeing is quicker for men than for women, and so men are on average able to finish using the bathroom faster, the effect of having two equal sized-bathrooms is to ensure men are generally able to fly through the bathrooms even during busier periods while women end up stuck in long queues. One solution would be to make women’s toilets larger than men’s, but which be fairer but would obviously outrage the ‘men are always discriminated against’ type commentators so having unisex toilets is the only real solution.

Having unisex toilets also eliminates the whole ‘hurr trans should not be using these toilets’ debate that seems to have fairly predictably popped up in this thread, so it’s more inclusive.

Aren’t fitting rooms all unisex anyway? Or do Mexican ones have some for men and some for women with a big divider between the two sides, like in the mosque.
