The Eerily Accurate Predictions of Cyberpunk 2020

Postby NomadPatriot on Thu Jun 20, 2019 2:30 am

- the 1988 board game Cyberpunk 2020
(excerpt from the updated 1994 rule book )

"Diversity & Unity"

--. it is now accepted among historical scholars that in the decades before the collapse, America suffered from the sickness of Racism & "Cultural Identity". Everyone wanted to be seen as special. Every Group had to be "equal" to or preferably better than it's neighbors & fought to protect it's "special" rights. if anyone had something that someone else wanted, they were painted a Racist, Sexist, Elitist, or worse. this Divisive " me first" attitude eventually tore the fabric of American culture apart & caused it to self-destruct in a fireball of competing ideologies., none of which truly recognized each other's validity. Diversity led inexorably to Anarchy"

Thank goodness you never played Vampire: The Masquerade.

Sure, there's a new game coming:

Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2

So accurate. We all know President Trump plans on declaring Martial Law before year’s end.

I think what NP is saying is that in order to maintain national unity and prosperity, the government needs to promote a common identity and culture that all citizens participate in?

I am not saying anything. I simply posted an excerpt from the 1988 Cyberpunk-2020 rulebook's 1994 update
it was the game's depiction of what society in America would be like in the year 2020...

take from it what you will...
but seems pretty accurate ..

Doesn't seem very accurate to me. Diversity has always been America's strength, there have always been bigots in a panic about it, and Chicken Little predictions about how it will cause the extinction of society have always been around. In another 1000 years I'm sure the debates will still be the same.

There were a few different endings for the the first Bloodlines game. You should give it a go!

What do you think I forgot? Games? Capital letters? Sci-fi in general? Modern politics?

well Dym.. ( not a type-o...) I had given you the benefit of the doubt that you were commenting to actually discuss the topic of the threads. but it is obvious now your only replying to my posts in order to attempt to cause aggravation.. no real debate intended..
so you get tossed into the bin with Llama.. no more attention for you.. you just do whatever for now on..
it's pointless to interact with you any further..
