People should be allowed to conscientiously object but a real objector would not subsequently seek to become the supreme head of the armed forces.

Even the Gay Mayor of South Bend was only a limited duty officer which involves two weeks training followed by correspondence classes and is the route of military service pursued by the wealthy plotting a path to future political office (George Prescott Bush among them).
