SLACK

Does anyone else use Slack for work? :?:

So I use Slack and someone will say "saxi, do you know XYZ?" ... and then everyone starts chit-chatting about the weather, and news and what not ... and then by the time I check the thread I have 100 messages to scroll through so I write it off and so then said person has to email me and say "hey did you see my question on Slack?" and I'm like "no, because I don't care about all your chit-chat, this is a profession not social hour, so you should have just emailed me in the first place." :x

Slack always seems totally pointless for that exact reason.

I've used Swak in the past at work for stainless steel components to prevent galling. It works pretty good.

Simple answer is "Yes ... in theory."

I do third level support for a product. Downstream from us, in the same company is the third level support team for a product that uses the data feed of my product. They have set up a slack when they have questions they need answered they just use that instead. We used to have a meeting, but my supervisor's "half hour" team meeting always runs a full hour and I could never make that meeting as a result. (So what does my supervisor do, he makes me a scrum master and insists on a scrum meeting on that exact time on Friday. Every team meeting (because we always use Cisco Webex for those who are working from home) he gets a message that the scrum is in 15 minutes and that the scrum should start NOW right on the screen for everyone to see. (Half of the team is involved in the scrum anyway, but we do have someone from product who doesn't attend the team meeting but does attend the scrum.) Boy did I just go off topic.
