Other Favorite Games!

Postby FreeFalling123 on Thu Nov 22, 2018 4:18 pm

I am curious what other games people are interested in... I've been playing some chess (chess.com) and Linez (http://www.varten.com/linez) lately for easy access to games, but have also taken a keen interest in board gaming -- I am actually creating a board game recently... and have taken a liking to the game codenames.

I made a video series on Linez, because there are not very many players who even have the patience to get over 1k

I'd love to see someone else break 10k and become a legend with me :P
First goal should be 500 points ! Curious if anyone can break 10k in under a year! Took me a long time

I liked "World at War" by xeno games.

I dont know if they exist anymore. The game really is for ww2 enthusiasts that like table top or board games.

lol I usually take a few free imaginary missing cards out, so I can get to my kings ;)

Games like this are basically just like day by day actions, waiting until the next day to get x or y resource to build a or b base and basically similar to moving on a CC game, yeah? When you're level 2 it's about getting to level 20 and when you're level 20 it's about being better than a level 25 player (skill-wise) until next thing you know you're like 1 of the 500 people in the world at level 60 :P

Couldn't find W@W, curious if it's Axis and Allies? Had a teacher who really got into games like that! You might like the simplicity of Samuraii, which I thought was a brilliantly simple version of a war game...

Nice, hardcore! You'd like the game I'm coming up with! I'll post a video on here once I get it onto youtube :P

I was reading the gameplay for Citadel at my local gaming store and was like dang that looks interesting... Kingdom Builder is kind of similar and fun in that genre -- actually probably a little simpler than Terraforming Mars (but I think TM has to be more diverse and difficult)

A lot of good similar games to Sushi Go Party too -- Machi Koro or Takenoko... definitely some of my favorite game types... a little shorter with enough unique strategies to make it interesting :P

Character builder yeah? Or do opponents get tougher? Fun to master the character or just to nonchalantly beat levels?

Miniatures seem to create a personal relationship to the game you're playing... like you take pieces into the action and yeah Axis and Allies one of the greats :P lot of risk players got into it

Just played Carccassone for the first time recently -- also like Kingdom Builder :P pretty addicting! I wish I could create a game with this like bidding over the board type of system! I honestly don't know how to make those type of games fun haha Machi Koro is also a similar system, but not as cool as Carc XD
This mystery rummy looks interesting too! Definitely a cool system!

Try this one, a FUN, Fast, easy, inexpensive, and Intriguing Card Game:

Coup

Description:
You are head of a family in an Italian city-state, a city run by a weak and corrupt court. You need to manipulate, bluff and bribe your way to power. Your object is to destroy the influence of all the other families, forcing them into exile. Only one family will survive...
In Coup, you want to be the last player with influence in the game, with influence being represented by face-down character cards in your playing area.
Each player starts the game with two coins and two influence – i.e., two face-down character cards; the fifteen card deck consists of three copies of five different characters, each with a unique set of powers: …{NOT listed here,……}

https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/131357/coup

The game is inexpensive, between $12-15 (USA)

The game can be played quickly; a game can be over in 5 minutes, depending on how many play. There are also expansion packs for more characters. There are also “Help Cards” in case you forget who does what (of the main characters). The FUN is the lying, bluffing, (and figuring who is and who is NOT lying) and back stabbing of who will assassinate or coup (KILL) someone else. Easy to learn and plays FAST.

Has anyone ever played this one?

In Risk Godstorm the players are priests looking to lead their race (Greek, Celtic, Babylonian, Norse, and Egyptian) to dominate the ancient world and the Underworld as well. To do this they will need to marshall their forces, dominate continents, acquire relics of power and call their Gods to earth.

Risk Godstorm uses the basic combat elements of classic Risk but alters many other elements. The game is played on an ancient map of the world that focuses on Europe and Northern Africa. Atlantis is also present and highly desirable however a chaotic event can see the fabled city sink into oblivion, taking all the forces present there with it.

At its core the players are trying to control territories and controlling entire continents earns the players bonus units to deploy and further their cause.

One of the key differences to classic Risk is that the Underworld can be invaded and defeated units can also be sent to the Underworld to fight again, with some proving themselves worthy enough to return to the Earth.

As in the play of Risk 2210 A.D., Risk Godstorm is played over 5 rounds (called Epochs here). At the end of that time frame the player with the most Victory Points is declared the winner. Victory Points are earned for the number of territories controlled + region bonuses + control of crypts and altars in the Underworld and for every relic that offers a territory bonus if that territory is controlled.

Also like Risk 2210 A.D., the game begins with a number of territories out of play. Here they are called Plague Lands.

Risk Godstorm also allows players to play Classic Risk using the Risk Godstorm board for an alternate experience.

I own it and recommend it. You can finish a game in one night. Gods move with your armies giving them an advantage and you can cast spells.

I had the Narnia Risk game at one point. Only played it a couple of times, but it was enjoyable.
