If a prospective gang banger joins a gang, is he good because he uses the money from slinging drugs to kids and robbing houses to buy his nephew some shoes? No, he's still a piece of shit. Al Capone was a piece of shit, Gotti was a piece of shit, "generous" gang members in LA are pieces of shit. They're generous in the same sense the vocal Christians are when praying in public- it bolsters their image and ego.

The police force is the largest and most powerful gang. It doesn't matter if one is a good guy before he joins. It's a gang. They literally can steal your money and property without charging you with a crime. That's highway banditry at it's finest.

And that's legal. The justice system regularly protects pigs who commit crimes, which shouldn't be legal (aiding and abetting), yet true repercussions are few in number.

You can tell your acquaintance he's a good guy when they regularly arrest and prosecute their own, like the cops who perform illegal and demeaning strip searches or rape women, the cops who kill with impunity and get put on paid leave, and when the justice system doesn't regularly drop any charges against obvious killers who have exceeded their bounds (e.g. all the cops who got off on the Kelly Thomas killing).

All cats are beautiful.

For real though, my pops was a military cop and my brother in law is a cop, and they're great people at home, but cop culture is terrible and I sincerely believe that it changes people. On top of attracting the people with dangerous power fantasies and those interested in using the system for their own gain, the militarization and idolization of police is harmful not only to the people they are policing, but to police themselves. Abolish the whole thing and start over.

It's a tough job arresting someone for half a gram of weed, but by god someone has to do it.

There's no way a cop did that. He must've been off-duty.

Cops are the enemies, which is why they shouldn't be allowed to have guns.

Sorry but I gotta agree with the rest of the peeps. In my experience, most cops are total jackasses that get off on the power trip. And our society's system is broken as f*ck and needs serious improvement.

Meh, whatever, we're on the road to a fascist state anyway. It's just a matter of time. Orwell was right all along.

Would have been disappointed if this thread didn't devolve into this

I have lots of shitty cop stories. I have several good cop stories too (I've had a lot of interactions with cops, sadly). One of the times I was hauled off to jail, which I deserved, the dude was totally cool and didn't want to....lol. Oh, the good ole days....

Nevertheless, I refuse to go thru life as a glass half empty (enter colorful noun here), ya buncha neg-nancys

I have some good cop stories too.

I was on probation a while back, and decided f*ck it, I don't wanna be on probation anymore. So I went to my meeting and told the PO that, and agreed to just go do a year in county jail instead. The cop that had to come pick me up and transport me there was one of the coolest cops I've ever met. BS'd with me, was really sorry to have to put cuffs on me (county law, anyone that has to ride in the back of a cop car MUST wear cuffs for some reason), was just really cool.

There are some good ones out there (hence my use of the word "most" above). But like with any other group of people, the bad apples ruin it for the rest of them.

Cops break into man's home, mistake identity, taze him 18 times in shower and drug him with ketamine. Man dies and pigs evade any charges.
