Trump bucks trend of fawning, gives productive words of resolve to grateful citizen.

Congresswoman Frederica Wilson said she was impressed by the president's comments to the bereaved wife of a fallen soldier.

The Democratic lawmaker claimed he told the widow: "He knew what he was signing up for, but I guess it hurts anyway."

While that's certainly a true statement, context matters. Empathy matters. True or not, it's really not the sort of thing you say to a grieving family member if you have an ounce of either empathy or social skills.

Widow Praises Trump for Compassion

De Alencar said Trump had researched her husband and was familiar with the awards he had received.

She described herself as a Democrat who does not "do politics." As a father himself, she said, Trump appeared to understand the magnitude of her loss. In the call, Trump talked about her children, especially her oldest son, who plays college football.

Empathy? Social Skills? Trump lacks both. He also lacks restraint and humility. He has excessive egotism, bordering on narcissism.

For those who followed the campaign for his run to the Republican nomination and the Presidency, is any of this a surprise? Disappointing, FOR SURE, but not a surprise, at least NOT for me.

The bigger disappointment is that after ALL that time, effort, and money, the only two viable candidates for the Presidency of the US were Trump and Hillary? REALLY? That I find sad, very sad.

No Trump Fan here, but I didn't hear him say anything bad in the Youtube post.

You can take a couple words out of context and make it seem bad if you want, but obviously the widow appreciated Trump's call.

Perhaps we should just let Trump make his call and let the widow and her family have her privacy, and not make this thing?

Listen, Trump says plenty of stupid things. There will be a lot more opportunities to beat him up when he actually inserts his foot into his mouth. When he doesn't do that... just shut your mouth and move on. You don't have to praise him, but you shouldn't bash him when it's uncalled for...

Don't try to twist facts around Saxi. Just because congressperson Wu was a little unstable, doesn't give you the right to paint everyone that chooses to dress like a tiger as crazy.
