Good video, although it's not the full answer.

There's a good critique of Rex Tillerson and the Trump administration's approach to foreign policy in the New Yorker this month.

It's worth a read, although it is pretty damning.

Russia's future is bleak indeed.

https://www.theguardian.com/business/2017/jul/05/there-is-little-reason-to-be-cheerful-about-russias-growth-prospects

The fact Russia has avoided a financial crisis is remarkable – and largely due to the efforts of the Central Bank of Russia. Indeed, Elvira Nabiullina, the CBR’s governor, has twice won international central banker of the year awards.

But the burden of adjustment has largely fallen on consumers, owing to a roughly 50% drop in the ruble’s value relative to the dollar; real wages and consumption both fell sharply. As one Russian put it to me, he used to take 1,000 rubles to the supermarket and come home with two bags; now he comes home with one.

The shock to the real economy has been severe, with Russia suffering a decline in output in 2015 and 2016 comparable to what the United States experienced during its 2008-2009 financial crisis, with the contraction in GDP totalling about 4%. Many firms went bankrupt, and in 2016 the International Monetary Fund estimated that almost 10% of all bank loans were non-performing (a figure that surely understates the severity of the situation).

Yes Goran, Countries are buying cheap products from Russia, just like Americans buy cheap products from Walmart. You want quality furniture, shoes or other products, you go elsewhere.

You want quality military products you buy from America, Sweden, Germany and France.

Sorry Armanti, you are barking up the wrong tree, now go play fetch with someone else. Never said I'm for a HUGE increase in military expenditures.....We certainly did not need a 54 Billion dollar increase for our military, as our military is bloated already with enough conventional weapons to wipe out any threat to America.

Americans are not really in fear of Russia's military, but Russia's neighbors should be.

Natural gas will face the same problems. It will continue to be used for many decades still, but in a world that is slowly moving away from fossil fuels. Same issue, minus cars. Russia needs to step up its game and remodernize its other industries or it's going to meet an inevitable decline.

Personally I'm under the impression it's not going to happen under Putin.

After the severe drop in oil and gas prices, Russia suffered a severe recession and now Russia is coming back from a slight boost in energy prices. . The embargo imposed by Europe and America is hurting Russia, that's why The Russian Foreign Minister was playing nice with our Putin sucking President.

S 400 is over rated and will be if not now obsolete. Russia can not compete against America's technological prowess. Also, anyone with a higher education is fleeing Russia. Wonder why?

bernie, you are exactly what the US government luvs.
Totally blind and gung ho.
Anyone that takes the time to look will see Russian equipment blows everything else away.

I gave examples of the navy, american ships get rammed by frieghters they build Zumwalts.
Russian subs are known as black holes by nato...they cant be seen.
nobody elses have the same attribute.
Check the armata tank compare it to the us stuff.
Air force?
Nothing the states has comes close, easy to check.
ant air and missile, nothing comes close to the s 400, s 500 is in the works.
Heck even the Russian nukes are better, they have hypersonic antimissle avoiding stuff, it would take only 2 to eliminate the entire eastern seaboard.
Do we need mention an emp that could take out the american power grids?
if that happens estimates are over 90% casualties within 1 year.

THATS WHAT THE AMERICANS ARE SO SCARED N KOREA MAY HAVE.

The US is run by Zionist neocons, they are preassuring for war all over the world, why? for profit.

They absolutely luv guys like you that are so brainwashed you can not see reality.

Everything I have said you can confirm if you want.
go to utube, there are copious amounts of vids pertaining to the worlds military equipment.

The ONLY advantage the americans might have is #s.
Ya think the #s game that was used with Sherman tanks to kill Tiger tanks will work now?

Remember? The Tigers can kill 6 of our Shermans to every Tiger we kill.....ok, we will build 7.
Will that thinking work today?

Anyway, no big deal Bernie, nutin personal, lotsa yanks have patriotic blindness.
My daughters aunt is married to a guy that flys for the yanks, f series stuff.
I have a brother livin in LA, he served with the yanks.

Again, nutin personal, sometimes I just get tired of the gung ho "lets all go die for banks" stuff.
best to ya

Do you make things up as you go?

The Russian battle tank is rated 5th in the world.

Here's some fun facts about today's battle tanks around the world.

http://www.military-today.com/tanks/top_10_main_battle_tanks.htm

Me being gung ho? Where have I ever advocated being a world policeman?

I want our men and women to leave the Middle East! We no longer need their oil and gas thank you. In a few more years America will be self-sufficient in energy. Let the Chinese and Europeans shed their blood and treasures for the oil.

Check the vids on u tube, the armata is next generation, the next step for it is no crew at all.

If the guys you post are correct, how do you explain the Chinese winning that competition?
At least armour technology lists the chinese in their top list.

In any case, you have to do your own research.

Yes its obvious the Russians have S-500 now(nobody believes they are still working on ti :D), thus they are selling S-400. But although S-400 is not the best Russians have its still quite capable weapon.
When it comes to Remodernization of Russian industry I think the Russians are well aware of this also. I think they are starting some steps towards this also(Northern sea route is one of them for example). Sanctions generally forced them to make very efficient moves when it comes to everything so on a long run they will do more good then bad. A lot to be done ahead of them tho.

Let's hope so. Economic theory states countries grow closer to eachother the more they mutually trade and the more they arrive to the same level of development. It's what I hope for euro-russian relations, only possible if Russia reinvigorates its industry.

Russia working closely with EU is win-win situation. I doubt there is anyone in the world that can depute this. But I cant see willingness in EU leadership to do a lot when it comes to the abandoning of the sanctions. And Russia is more and more drifting away from EU and turning their eyes towards Asia.

Actually Angela Merkel has already expressed wishes to lower sanctions. The problem is countries like Poland that simply hate Russia regardless.

Yes seems like only the Germans are trying the most but their long term profit will be the greatest.
Russians are generally insulted by the whole situation with Ukraine so they are trying to do the same to EU/US.

As a side note. Popularity of S-400 vs its US counterpart THAAD can be seen even here on CC. S-400 thread has 10 times more views and post then THAAD thread. Are you reading this Bernie Sanders?
