The TV series on Vietnam is on now on PBS. This is done by Ken Burns and is excellent. Currently Episode 6 of Season 1 is on my TV.
The war is makes an impact on American politics and society today. The nation was very polarized for and against the war effort. The nation eventually decided the US involvement there was not worth the loss of blood and treasure.
I recently went to a funeral of a man who fought for the South Vietnamese forces and his wife was also a war survivor. Their daughter is now in Vietnam on a one year studies abroad program there. I await to get her impressions of the Vietnam now, many years after the war.
