Are US gun laws too liberal?

Postby notyou2 on Thu Aug 03, 2017 5:54 pm

All this talk in the US about liberals and communism, yet many people throwing these terms around love the liberal gun laws.

Seems kind of ironic.

I personally have no desire to get a gun, but if someone was trying to take them away I'd be screaming and fighting tooth & nail. I think that they need to do something about issuing licenses, but that's the only area I see as being too liberal.

OT's 1,000th thread about US gun laws.

Here's a better law: in London it's a criminal offence to skip the queue for the subway.

Are you using liberal in 2 different contexts here? Just verifying.....and what liberal guns laws do you reference?

And when you say "talk about liberals...." I see interpret as people like me complaining about people like Hillary, because I love my guns.....confoozed.....lol

I realize it was a general statement and gun laws vary by state.

I guess what I was saying is that many Americans consider the word liberal to be a negative term, yet many of these same people love how liberal their gun laws are. Rather ironic.

Laws mean nothing when you need a gun.

For the record, I am not against guns. I have shot many, including machine guns and pistols. Gun laws in Canada are rather strict. It is very difficult to get a handgun permit, not so bad for rifles and shotguns.

I was simply making a comment on the term liberal. Even conservatives are liberal in some of their outlooks was my point.

Ok....I think you're saying liberal gun laws and meaning it as lax? So you'd say Cali's gun laws are conservative? I see those terms as opposite, but honestly, I would never use those adjectives in conjunction with gun law descriptions..... id use harsh or restrictive or California-like, and lax or minimal or Idaho-like.... lol.

Cali's laws are lax compared to Canada's. Liberal simply means more open, less conservative. US gun laws in general are far more liberal than Canada's.

I love the fact that politically conservative Americans hate the word liberal, yet love liberal gun laws.

If you call a gun toting conservative a liberal for his views on gun laws, he would have an apoplectic fit...lol
