Oden just doesn't seem to me like he believes he's as good as he's supposed to be. As much as I'm annoyed by the arrogant 18-year old multi-millionaire athelte who is convinced that he's the shiznit, in the NBA (and to some extent in college ball), the best players play with confidence, especially big men. Look at Hibbert at Georgetown. First couple years in college, he played with little confidence, but this year, he's a beast because he's playing with authority. Whether Oden gets that eventually is anybody's guess, I think. If he does, he could be Great. If not, he'll just be another Big Country. I think Kevin Durant is a much better lock for NBA success.

Oden? Who cares?
But Odin (A.K.A. Alföðr, Wotan), that's another story.

Thought you might have been talking about Oden as in the food. As Japanese food goes, it's really not great, but still popular. Less so outside of Japan.

Maybe Greg Oden is just over-hyped in the same way, if you're too much into a certain culture the opinions within it seem to have crazy weight. Take a step back and look from the outside, maybe nobody's heard of the guy, or the food.

Anyway, this wasn't about Japanese food, so I'll just let you guys continue.

FYI: Oden is basically a Japanese anything-goes soup. Throw your leftovers in a diluted soy sauce broth and voila! Oden.
