Speaking of Cracker Barrel.

Postby 2dimes on Thu Mar 23, 2017 4:25 am

You are going to want to go look at their Facebook page.

Someone named Brad has a wife, she worked at Cracker Barrel for eleven years. She was fired. People of Facebook are avenging it.

I read the title of this thread as "Speaking at Cracker Barrel" and assumed 2dimes was maybe doing a poetry reading, book signing, or something at a Cracker Barrel.

It's not bad, sort of home made like stuff. My wife loves it, big breakfasts. White gravy available. Pancakes they serve with an individual bottle of syrup.

Try it you might like it.

Of course, not as keen on that country chicken fried steak white stuff but I'll go for it on occasion. One of their features is Chicken and dumplins. It sounds and looks better in pictures than on the plate.

Had Cajun style spicy gravy on shrimp with rice yesterday at Cafe Zydeco. I also had Dr. Pepper several times. That was tasty! I don't know why I'm twice Saxi's weight?

for some reason, US Dr. Pepper is better than the Canadian version. I happen to love Dr. Pepper and was amazed to find this exciting truth when I briefly worked in Oklahoma.

It's on tap at most restaurants here. Unlike home where it is at Arby's, Taco Bell and KFC. Tough to find elsewhere.

And... I dodged the Crackerbarrel this time. :P

It's one of those things- Mexican coca cola is better than the US. Fanta is just way better in the UK. Sparkling water is terrible in the UK though, at least the flavoured kind.

Mexican Coca-Cola is made with sugar as it was in the US and Canada.

Then they introduced new Coke and it was sweeter and just kind of off. After a while they only made new Coke. Then they re-introduced Coca-Cola classic. It was supposed to be the original recipe but they made it with high fructose corn syrup. So it does not taste the same as the stuff made with sugar.

It looks like the whole "new Coke" thing was a distraction so they could switch to the corn syrup without everyone dropping Coke and switching to Pepsi who's product did not change as much when they switched. Could just be a co-incidence though.

I can't tell the difference between coke and pepsi. I can pick up the difference when it's diet coke vs coke, or pepsi max vs pepsi, but pepsi vs coke?

But then again, when I lived in the US, the first time I tasted root beer I thought someone had dropped a wintergreen mint into the pitcher of (what I thought was) coke. I thought someone was playing a joke on me.

Wintergreen mints also not being a thing in the UK.

You can't even tell the difference between Pepsi and Coke, but you presume to be a connoisseur of Fanta formulations?

That's like a wine snob who turns out to not know the difference between Burgundy and Pinot Grigio.

Fanta in the UK and Fanta in the US are radically different. You can actually see the difference. It's more akin to being able to spot the difference between red and white wine. They both look weirdly chemical, but European Fanta looks like carbonated orange juice. American Fanta look like Donald Trump's blood.

Outside of the UK, you should probably order orangina though.

Coke varies by plant, or region. I expect Pepsi does too.

Orangina is good but it is expensive here. Sometimes I mix orange juice with 7up. Much cheaper and pretty close.

Coke, Pepsi, 7 Up, Ginger Ale ... once your drunk you can't tell the difference (but only in a blind taste test ... the color might give it away).
