In terms of the bottom, I would go with Philadelphia and Orlando (despite the Disney vibe).
This forum is so America-centric.
The Shanghai airport did not impress me but also did not disgust me. I was pleasantly surprised about how much libertarian literature I was permitted to smuggle in.
To be honest, I'm more surprised you were allowed to take that libertarian propaganda back to the US with you.

I flew from San Fran to Shanghai. It took me about 30 minutes to get out of the airport from the moment I landed.

American airport officials are terrible. Superiority mixed with incompetence.
It's a combination of superiority, incompetence, and poor planning. When my plane arrived in Shanghai, there were two security lanes open. The airport immediately opened three more to accommodate. When I arrived in Chicago, there were three security lanes open. The airport closed one for no apparent reason, causing additional backup.
