My gun is innocent!

Postby mizery24 on Sun Jun 12, 2016 7:59 pm

I have had guns most of my life. They have never been shot at a person. The have only been shot at innocent animals that have ended up in my freezer. (For those who are upset about that, your ancestors did it too!) The left wing media as well as the left wing have already called for more gun laws in the wake of the shootings in Orlando.

I haven't heard from them what they would actually do to prevent gun violence except to have more strict gun laws. What does that mean? The laws that we have in place now don't work (as evidenced today.) I have heard of taking away the gun show loophole, but the last few gun tragedies haven't been the effect of a gun show gun, have they? Today's guns were bought legally.

Then there is the argument that lets get rid of guns all together. I propose to you that those with guns that kill go after people they are not scared of, those WITHOUT guns. If one or two people in that club would have had a gun, there wouldn't be that many who lost their life. Another aspect is that if all guns were taken, then killers would still fine ways to kill.

Guns are NOT the problem. Crazy people, extremist, and scorn lovers are the problems. 99% of gun owners are law biding, great Americans who possess a gun for protection and for recreational use. The will only use the gun on a human if they are threatened.

Let's stop the rhetoric! Let's get to the real problem. Let's find a solution to the problem in the Middle East and to those that are mentally unstable.

Getting to the root of your problem, gun laws do work. I know that you're coming from a perspective where they've never been tried, but is it worth looking at places where they have been? Say the UK, or Australia?

Both countries suffered extreme acts of gun violence, and enacted restrictions because of them, with positive results.

If, as is the case, gun laws can and do work to reduce murders, shootings, and even suicides, what's your case against trying the proven solution?

By the time SWAT teams used an armored vehicle to smash down the front door three hours later, at least 50 people were dead, more than 50 others wounded.

Demand that Cops Stop Acting Like Soldiers

When residents of Ferguson, MO took to the streets to protest the killing of teenager Michael Brown by police officer Darren Wilson, they were met with armored vehicles. This needs to stop. This fall, Representative Hank Johnson is planning on introducing the Stop Militarizing Law Enforcement Act, which would end the federal government's policy of sending billions of dollars of military equipment into our local communities.

Intolerable. As The Nation notes, we need to terminate police access to armored vehicles immediately. The Orlando Police should have requested firmly, in a loud and commanding voice, for the door to be opened. If the gunman failed to do so he should have been threatened with a graduating schedule of stiff citations, beginning at $25 and increasing to a maximum of $175, until he complied.

I'm tired of militarized policing. Policing isn't about running around playing with your big boy guns and APCs. It's about cultivating a sense of community based on shared values where we can all celebrate our diverse experiences in an inclusive environment.

Policing is about protecting and serving. MOST police should be commended for their bravery. MOST police honor the badge that they wear. If it weren't for police acting the way they did, there would be 30 more individuals dead!!

Did you hear Ali's wife make the statement that a White Police officer save Ali from a troubled life and made him the man he was when he died?

Problem with social media and liberal media is that you only hear the bad.

I'll say it again!! MOST police officers are great people and should be commended my they risk their life for many everyday
