Oklahomans are thanking Iran!

Gasoline prices may hover around an average $1.80 per gallon of regular nationwide, but in places around Oklahoma the price has dropped to $1.28.

That's like €0.70 / liter.

The economic benefits Americans are enjoying now due to the lifting of its self-destructive sanctions against the Islamic Republic are just beginning. Get ready for hundreds of thousands of new jobs and a building boom, America, as the Islamic Republic is preparing to flood the steel and copper markets -

As the oil markets remain focused on the re-emergence of Iran as a major oil producer following the recent lifting of sanctions, another oversupply storm is brewing as the Islamic Republic appears keen to start mining its substantial metals reserves.

Good relations with Iran means prosperity and billions of dollars pumped into the U.S. economy. Good relations with Israel means billions of dollars of handouts to Tel Aviv the U.S. taxpayer has to foot.

Should America cultivate good relations with someone who can pay their own way (Iran), or with a welfare queen with outstretched hands yelling "gimme! gimme!" (Israel)? Should America be friends with an Alpha state (Iran) whose industrial success means it can afford to buy its own underwear, or with a Beta state (Israel) who relies on charity handouts from the U.S. Treasury to pay the rent?

LOL at Saxi and his desperate efforts to somehow link the rise and fall of relations between U.S. and Iran to its relations with Israel.

American relations with Iran have been driven primarily by its need to be the unquestioned ruler of the Persian Gulf and to be able to demonstrate to all its little client states there that it can change regimes at will. The fact that regime change occurred in Iran without American consent was the primary driver of the long period of hostility between the U.S. and Iran. It's a fact which the U.S. government will never forgive, but is willing now to at least partially forget.

Israel is a Levantine state, and only tangentially relevant to Persian Gulf politics. Israeli propaganda is anti-Iranian, of course, but its effectiveness is dubious. Control of the world's oil market has been the primary driver of American activity in the Persian Gulf, and has been since the 1920s.
