So what was the non-irrational reason for the death thread?

Double negative. You mean, what was the rational reason for the death thread?

Maybe Biebz merely wanted to prove that people would rather have cake than read your posts. Something for you to think about as you draft any future posts.

Because symmetry doesn't engage in debate in any meaningful or honest way.

Meh, I'm merely curious. TGD indicated that he was certain that the nightmarish thread was not irrational. He's being a bit shy about explaining how he knows that for certain.

I don't know why, precisely, BBS made the thread. He didn't clue me in before, during, or after. We're not private message buddies or friends in real life. Other than having similar points of view on most things (other than, perhaps, public education), I have virtually nothing in common with him.

However, I suspect that BBS made the thread because of the way symmetry debates (as I indicated above) and it was meant as a troll attempt. I do not think BBS truly wanted Symmetry to die. All I know about BBS are his posts, which are available for all to see, and nothing in those posts indicated any violence, hatred, or any other disturbing tone or thoughts. In fact, he was one of the few people who always maintained his cool. Symmetry and BBS interacted on a regular basis for an extended period of time, so I would assume that Symmetry understood BBS as much as anyone else.

So, I think the thread was a troll. I thought Symmetry's responses in the thread were trolling responses. I did not believe, ever, that BBS meant the thread seriously. I did not believe, ever, that Symmetry took the thread seriously. I still don't think Symmetry takes the thread seriously, but I suppose I have to give him the benefit of the doubt, so I'll stop defending it after this post.

The only other thing I will say is that Symmetry has insinuated in almost every thread where my Libertarian point of view comes out, that I'm racist and/or homophobic. Is it reasonable for me to assume that Symmetry thinks I'm racist and/or homophobic? Maybe. Should I care? No. And that's where Symmetry and I differ on BBS's thread. If Symmetry (or anyone else I disagree with regularly - Mets, snorri, SultanofSurreal) ever made a death thread having to do with me, I probably would troll the thread in a fashion similar to how (I think) Symmetry trolled the thread. But it would not disturb me.

The what now?

On topic, Sym is just being a victim. I think he prefers the submissive role.
