I came very close to popping a champagne cork 20 min ago...im out of beer. Probably not the clicquot though...just the cali chandon...still an expensive buzz, but hardly wasteful

the liquor store is about 5 minutes away, and guiness would be preferred, but the fridge is so damn close

oh and what would be the celebration.....popping my taxes in the mail of course....and all my money with it....nothing more fun than that...
I'm Spanking Monkey now....err...I mean I'm a Spanking Monkey now...that shoots milk

Sucker. I turned in my taxes in January. Got the refund back in February. Living off the fat of the land ever since...

Exactly how do taxes work where you guys live??

My taxes are taken out of my pay every fortnight. It sucks but it's a lot safer than having to pay the tax myself because I'd never do it and I'd probably end up in prison for evasion or something lol

Unless you're self-employed, or in a few other rare cases, taxes are taken out of your pay at a certain rate, depending on how much you make. However, every April you have to turn in a form to the central government telling every source of income you've made that year and how much taxes you should have to pay. Most poor people, like myself, get most of the taxes that were taken out of their pay paid back to them by the government. If you own a lot of property or if you make a lot of money through investments or the like, you might have to pay additional taxes to the government.

Most areas also have state, county, and city income taxes and property taxes. Those are, depending on where you live, paid monthly or annually to the state.

Ah, I see. I don't make a lot of money annually but I can't be bothered doing the tax rebate thing. Maybe I'll give it a go this year though, just to see if I actually get anything back. If the tax people come back and say I have to pay more then I'm never doing it again lol

Oh, and thank you so much for explaining all that to me - I appreciate it :)

Right now I'm finishing off a minikeg that I've since Saturday or so. It's flatness (lack of fizz, eh) should keep me going at a very moderate pace for a while.

Ew.

Mind you, flat drink is better than no drink... and you can't very well let it go to waste, anyway

Hmmm.

If you want, you could try to find a copy of an old favourite Kiwi drinking song online somewhere.

It's called "Bliss" by a 70's kiwi pop-rock group called Th' Dudes.

The chorus goes something like this:

"Driiiiiiiiink yourself a-bliiiiiiiiiiiiss.
Forget about the last one
Get yourself another!!!"

I must try to get a copy of that actually.

*sings sluredly while staggering out the pub*

Show me the way to go home
-hiccup-
I'm tired and I want to go to bed
I had a little drink about an hour ago
And it went right to my head

*trips over rubbish bin*
- whassfucksthat-

Where ever I may roam
On land or sea or foam
You will always hear me singing this song
Show me the way to go home
-hiccup-
*arms round Numia and Meggy*
-I fuckin' love you guys!-

Those are catchy lyrics, wish I knew the tune.

Stuff this, you're just making me thirsty... nobody will notice if I leave work 30 minutes early, surely...

Okay, I'm going to do a SAS mission and extricate my platoon outta here. If I make it out alive, we're going to toast to the sheer audacity of the whole operation

I asked my friend if I knew any drinking songs. He said,

"RRRRRRULE, BRITANNIA! BRITANNIA RRRRRULE THE WAVES!...."

Unfortunately, I don't think that's a drinking song.

I just want to get rinsed with the gifted,
Hit spliffs, get blitzed & keep drinking,
No pausing, no stalling,
Keep it going 'til 25 o'clock in the morning.

We made it to the border alive, but we took a heavy casualty toll :(

My poor baby girl is cutting another tooth; I swear we must have used a whole tube of Bonjela and half a bottle of Pamol to try to ease her pain, but she still kept mum and dad up all night and now it's daylight, we're all buggered (tired) and we still have a whole day to get through.

Hopefully our baby's tooth will come through during daylight hours today. If she does, then I may be able to get that 2nd bottle of red out in celebration later this afternoon lol

In any case, it means I can't work today - there's no way I'm leaving my partner here to look after baby on her own when I had more sleep than both of them.

I hope nobody had a party without me last night

YAYYY!!!

Baby is still sick with the teething symptoms but she has had 2 decent sleeps today, and she is having her 3rd sleep now.

That means I have time to fill my glass up with a little red and relax for a little while :)

So... CHEERS! to anyone else that is indulging themselves at this particular time :D

Cheers!

When she's a teenager she'll keep you up all night, too, but in an even worse way. As she's doing drugs and getting pregnant and whatever else teenagers do, you'll be up biting your nails and debating over whether to call the police to report a missing child.

...Such are my insights on parenting.

lol, that's why I polish my shotgun on a daily basis, in preparation for those days to come

Never mind all this talk of children anyway, I came here to get away from that for a little while! :P

I hope everyone is having a good day so far. If not, charge your glass and drink with me :D

My partner is on Bourbon Street in New Orleans tonight. He told me that all along the street there are kiosks than sell 32 oz (like, a liter?) cups of Abita, a pretty durn good Louisiana brew. Everyone's walking around getting drunk as they belch up gumbo and swamp rock bands form a horrible cacophony. It's like Disneyland, but with booze.

Sounds great to me.

I'm at home enjoying a fine Australian boxed wine and playing Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, though, which is also pretty great in my book.

Wow, that is one thing me and my partner want to do in our lifetimes - visit New Orleans. During Mardi Gras would be great, but a visit there at anytime would suit us fine :)

This red wine I'm drinking is from Australia (I felt a traitorous surge of guilt just as I typed that) and it's not too bad for only $6 a bottle.

KOTOR? I have a copy of KOTOR2 that is still brand new in the box because our PC doesn't meet the specs to play the game. Rather than upgrade our PC I'm just going to sell the game lol
