Your example is not serving your argument. Cumin has the a taste of cumin combined with the spicy sensation, which is just a sensation and not a taste by itself. You can say the same about black peppers, chili peppers etc, they all have distinct tastes, but different levels of spiciness.

But you are arguing against a needless case, anyway... All I am saying is smell is way more important than taste. And I can't believe anyone would disgaree.

I agree that smell is biologically more important than taste, especially in our modern world where we don't need to taste for poisonous substances in our food, generally. Smell's also important in finding genetically compatible mates, recent studies have demonstrated. But, I think everyone here is pretty sincere in saying that they'd rather taste things than smell things. The importance of the sensations of smelling vary from person to person, and they're apparently more valuable to you than to some others here.

Anarki, I have to agree with you. Nowhere in my posts did I say that taste is more important than smell! I only said that I prefer to have taste over smell because I enjoy eating good food!

Anarki, I have to agree with you. Nowhere in my posts did I say that taste is more important than smell! I only said that I prefer to have taste over smell because I enjoy eating good food!

Smell just isn't that important, compared to the others. You can obviously see in the pole. I mean, taste for food, touch for u know... :wink:

, hearing for music (or something else important), and sight for seeing things...... :wink:

if you really like sex you're gonna want all of your senses except smell

(AD don't make a scientific argument stating that smell is an important part of sex)

also, did you know we have "stereo" smell? like our ears...if we concentrate we can tell vaguely where a smell is coming from

and finally, why the hell are you guys arguing so much, all that matters is that you voted your own opinion and you told everyone what it was if you wanted to...
