No I don't respect atheist beliefs but I do accept it. 8-)

Do you see me going around trying to discredit atheist beliefs? I think not. [-X

The question isn't about respect my freind. It's about acceptance. ;)

Err no I think you will find that we were asked what was wrong with saying Jesus Christ, it
was a question concerning respect. I assume as you have no respect for other beliefs that consequently you do not object to people using that expression , yes ?

Why would I? It's not my job to judge. ;)

A wise choice indeed, just as long as you recognise that its more practical to believe in judges who actually exist

You refer to folks who lie around? Not sure what that has to do with the president, but OK.

Very funny but I know you have brains enough to know what I'm referring to. ;)

It is pretty pathetic that I mispelled such a simple word.

I triple-dog super-duper-pooper-trooper kitten-in-the-bag dare you to! You couldn't if you wanted.

Not to insult anyone, but I kinda do get that. To me, when someone says that they are a Christian or whatever religion, I automatically deduct 10 points from their supposed IQ . Of course the same applies to Atheist/Agnostics who haven't a clue. Like the death-metal type.
Am I the only one?

No: anyone who has not questioned their own beliefs, who has not had that internal debate, should be avoided until they have.

I was staying in a B&B one time (I suddenly remember) and overheard a family discussion: the 11 -year-old son could not understand why he wasn't allowed to be confirmed yet, so that he could partake of communion. I asked Mum if I could butt in, and was granted permission.

"Do you believe that Jesus is your Savior?"
"Yes"
"Do you believe that he was the Son of God?"
"Yes!"
"Have you eve doubted this for even one second?"
"No!"
"Then you are not ready to be confirmed. I too at your age wanted to be confirmed. But before you can do so, you must actually confront the question, 'What if this is all not true? What if there is no God?' - only when you have faced that doubt and overcome it can you be confirmed".

The Mum thanked me, and the kid went away understanding the point.
Being in an obviously very devoutly Christian household, I did not feel it would be polite to reveal that I had never been confirmed 'cos for me the doubts won.

I got confirmed because it meant we got a free weekend away from (boarding) school. And I haven't looked back.

As an orthodox christian atheist I was confirmed when I was baptised, which means I had no choice. Perhaps the fact that I was crying and shouting meant that I didn't want to but nobody understood me.

At least you weren't slapped on the side of the face like they used to to in the Catholic Church. (Actually it was supposed to be a tap on the cheek, a quaint Italian greeting, but after you do 40 or 50 kids you start to rush the process a little - SLAP. Today they changed it to a handshake.)
