One thing I'm worrying about is a review I saw for an HP notebook (not the same one I'm thinking of), the customer's laptop went pretty haywire and shutdown-ey on itself within the first few days, and he's convinced that the entire brand is of the same quality.
...and Lenovo has just come to my attention, any experience with that?

Well, I have an HP PC (not a laptop) and that has never happened to it. Though, one of those damn Myspace things unleashed some sort of virus and now an add or five pop up offering Anti-Spyware for $29.99 every few minutes.![]()
And I don't believe I have heard of Lenovo.

I travel with it frequently and it gets banged up and still no problems. And I like the fingerprint recognition to open it because I suck at remembering passwords. Oh yeah, I bought a low end model and it doesn't seem "cheap" at all like a Dell does to me.
