The first time Jesus speaks in the Bible, He says that God is His Father; so right from the very beginning He gave them clues to his deity as part of the trinity.
Luke 2:41-51
"His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover. And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast. When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother[l] did not know it; but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day’s journey, and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances. So when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him. Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers. So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.” And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?” But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them. Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men."bedub1 wrote:Question is....if you were told at that age you were God, and taught it all your life, and finally came to believe it...would you be God? Could you perform miracles? I think so.
If you think you are a worthless piece of shit...you will probably work all your life to prove it and make it come true. In order to succeed, you must believe you can. The mind is very powerful.
Have you ever watched American Idol? Many of the kids on there had great support from the family and friends--everybody told them they were outstanding singers. But even though they were told that right from the start, and even though they believed in themselves, it wasn't enough. Most of them failed the judge's standards. Believing that you can do something, and having people support you from the start doesn't guaruntee success.
That's an extremely bad example. The problem with it is that you're only looking at 1 paticular moment in a singer's career. I'm sure that alot of the American Idols who don't win would simply quit and turn their career in another direction. Where as a strongly determined individual would not stop until they reach their goal.
If everything we dream comes to be on the very 1st try then we all would be living our dream. These singers might have been told they were great singers from a young age but I assure you that each one of them had their share of doubts, even the one's who win American Idol.
To have unflinching faith is one of the most difficult things to acheive but if acheived then anything is possible. The problem is that society has taught us that the only way to acheive our dreams is through hard work. This is true if your faith is not perfect. Jesus had perfect faith and therefore was able to do whatever he pleased.
I like to think I have unflinching faith but I don't. Sure I have strong faith but doubts always find a way into my mind. Maybe someday I'll be able to prove this theory correct. My faith does however heal me when I'm feeling ill. Faith in my own health is pretty close to perfect but as for other aspects in my life, not so much.
